Luggage and late(ish) arrival

our flight arrives around 8pm. We plan on checking luggage. We have two small kids. In the past we've used the luggage tags - so convenient to not have to wait for luggage and then lug it around. But this time with a late arrival we're afraid our luggage won't arrive to our hotel until late (late for us is anything after 9pm!). Hopefully we will all be asleep by 10! My question is - can I request they 'hold' our luggage at bell hop? And if so, how do I go about requesting that? Any other insights? Advice? We are staying at riverside if that makes a difference.

I know that they will hold the luggage overnight, because they have done that to us twice without our request and we woke up scared that our luggage didn't come both times, LOL.

Perhaps when you check in, you just make the request to hold it until morning?

If 9 is late to you, are going to arrive "LATE" to POR. The average time from deplaning (not landing) to your resort on DME is 90 minutes. So you will likely not arrive until 9:30 - 10. Disney says your luggage will be delivered 3 - 4 hours after checkin. It will likely arrive around 1 AM in that case.
You can ask they hold it until the morning at the check in desk. Also put the Do Not Disturb sign on your door. Plan time to wait in the morning for it to be delivered to your room after you call for it. It will not be delivered to an empty room, like ME does. And it will take a while after you call.
Personally, that late at night I would collect my luggage at baggage claim and bring it to the DME bus with me. I would not put the yellow tags on. I would rather collect it and get settled in my room when I arrive, than wait in the morning when I want to be in a park.

They will surely hold it for you, just mention at the front desk and Bell Services. For an upcoming trip we are also arriving late and have decided to pick up our luggage at baggage claim at the airport. Then we'll bring it with us to Magical Express and we won't have to worry about it being delivered.
