Background: trip was booked last minute (just the week before we left) by my lovely DH as a special treat for us girls to help us relax after a tough year, while he works, poor thing. Were travelling with MyTravel to Pop Century for a week in the sun .
6. Girls Just Want to have Fun ..
Im woken at 6 by my very mad sister who doesnt realise the time difference .duh!!!!! Just a quick text and Im back to sleep til 8.30 At 9 Im lazing in that lovely Pop pool, wishing this could go on forever. Im going to let Becky sleep in til we go shopping (I know shell get up for that) and have a relaxing morning soaking up the sun after yesterdays disappointment.
By 10.30 I reckon she must be awake and as Im now nicely toasted I return to our room. Becky of course is not actually ready, although she is up at least ..the lure of Hot Topic is very strong! By the time I have a shower and change shes ready and we have some fruit in the food court before grabbing a cab for Florida Mall.
The driver this time is really nice and is more than happy (he gets a good tip) to give us his number to call for a return journey. At least this means well have a proper yellow cab rather than some of the dubious ones weve caught before from Florida Mall! We hit loads of bad traffic on the way which is very nail biting for Becky who worries that she wont get enough shopping time .as its only midday I think shell be fine!
We wave goodbye to Isaac our driver and stat off slowly in the Foot Locker, but Hot Topic is calling us and were soon inside, Becky almost drooling. Im sure the sales assistants must rub their hands together when they see us, we always have discount cards from them as we spend so much, so often and are usually able to get 15% off. Its got so they know us now!! Many clothes are tried on and discarded as the pile on the counter grows. I manage to pick up 2 t shirts for Mark .Id have had more if theyd had his size, poor salesman was climbing all over the place to check sizes for us! Unfortunately the Dickies Becky wants arent in stock in her size, but she still manages to claim 3 t shirts, a belt, some undies, badges .not sure what else! We manage to clock up $170 worth of goods, but yay theres a special offer on today, and as spent over $150 we get 25% off ..and some more discount cards for next time. Great result!
At last we finish (although we do return!!!) and head into the CD shop almost next door. Were not tempted though as Becky has almost spent her money by now and still needs shoes and is still after some Dickies. Into the food court after this, we love it here as theres so much choice. If Id ben with mark wed have gone to our favourite Bucco deBeppo, but Beckys appetite is too small for their giant portions so she has a veggie sub from Subway, and I get to have my Tacos from Tacobell .I discovered them last year and love it for fast food.
Now its my turn and into the wonderful sister shop of Hot Topic, for us larger girls, Torrid. Its just around the corner to HT and my idea of Heaven. I spend just as long in here as Bek did in Hot Topic, finding a lovely gypsy skirt I was after, undies, some Tinkerbell shortie pjs, a couple of belts and bracelets and a couple of t shirts. Becky falls in love with a great pair of black shoes with ribbons to tie them, but again she decides to be good and save the rest of her money. No discount here unfortunately, I could have bought loads more tho!
Manage also to pick up Marks aftershave he likes from a cart in the middle of the mall (Thierry Mueghler .sorry cant spell). Look in loads of other places for Beckys Dickies but cant find the exact ones and of course they have to be exact! We do however find some great green converse boots in the Kids Journeys at a cheaper price than weve seen before. We also pop into the chemist for a few essentials Id hoped thered be somewhere here to buy Luck Charms, which I know I havent mentioned up to now. Becky has been nagging and nagging for them all week and were not due to go to a supermarket so well have to get them somewhere and they dont sell them at the hotel.
As Ill be back in October Becky decided I can buy her some MAC make up then (cheers me dear!). Dont find anything much in Old Navy as theyre gearing up for Autumn (yes really!), and after a coffee and cookie at the Paradise bakery, theres just time to have a quick peek at the Florida Hotel, where well spend our first night in October (tee hee, theres a method to my madness!!)
I call Isaac to find hes waiting right outside for us, so with a last visit to Hot Topic (cant recall what Becky bought .may have been another T shirt I think!!!) we hop back into the cab and go back to the hotel .much cash lighter, but very happy bunnies indeed!
I have another lovely swim in the pool to rest my tired feet while Becky tries on all her goodies, and checks over her purchases. Decide to head back to DTD tonight and try the cinema, so we first eat at the food court as we know Beckys ok there, and we need to save some money! Veg burger for Becky and Moms home baked turkey dinner for me, which is good.
Were too late for most films, and the next lot dont start til way after 10 so we opt for a movie called Chumscrubber ..never heard of it but Becky wants to see it and it has a good cast Ralph Fiennes is only one I can remember tho! LOL We while away the time in Virgin loking at some very silly books until its time to go back to the cinema. No sweets for us as were still full from dinner, just buy a massive soda. Its a weird film and may become a cult film I reckon, definately one for the teen crowd, theres only 6 of us in the cinema but it was enough to hold my attention anyway.
Once it finishes its well after midnight and were very lucky as a bus back to PC pulls in as we arrive. The maddest driver is on board; he looks like Mr Magoo (which sets us off again) and keeps up a running commentary all the way home ..I swear he must have been a comedian with a routine like that!
Its still 80 degrees when we get back and the pool looks very inviting but Im really too tired so reluctantly dont join those in the water this time. When we get in the room, its after 1am and I have the fab idea of calling Mark well, he wakes up at 6.30 anyway! Not sure he feels quite so happy about the wake up call tho .how strange!!!
Oh .2 things I forgot to say .the maid has been making lovely towel animals for us .theres a cute little bird and an elephant guess which one Becky says I am?!!! The cheek of it! Also, those lovely rain ponchos we bought? Hmmmm, havent needed them since! Wouldnt you just know it?
Sleep time .its way past my bed time ..
