Lucky Charms Tour 2005

Starring….

Angel (aka Mandy)…. Mum extraordinaire, teenager at heart, loves to shop
Becky (17)…………………daughter, rock star, budding artist, also loves shopping

Background: trip was booked last minute (just the week before we left) by my lovely DH as a special treat for us girls to help us relax after a tough year, while he works, poor thing. We’re travelling with MyTravel to Pop Century for a week in the sun….

3. “Magic”

I wake up at 3 but thank goodness go right back to sleep again til 6..wow I must have been tired! Call Mark from the bathroom so as not to wake up Sleeping Beauty Look outside and the sun is just rising and looks lovely out there. Quietly get dressed and head to food court and shop where I decide to buy a ‘Stitch’ towel as the towels are so small at the hotel. Have a waffle with fruit which is fab, and some coffee and take some fruit back to room for Becky when she wakes.

At 7am Im in that lovely pool all by myself having my first swim of the holiday, laze in the water and reflect how lucky I am. I promise myself not to stress out this trip and just go with the flow (lets see if I can do this eh?) The sun comes up and its perfect except theres no Mark to share it with…..

Wake up Becky at 7.45 and head off to buy her ticket while she dresses. I decide to get her a 3 day hopper in case we need it, with the other 2 days left that should be plenty. Also decide to book Boma for breakfast tomorrow as I know Becky loves it, forgetting of course that she wont be able to eat much there now. It’s a long q and by the time I finish Becky is waiting which is good timing. We wait for the bus to MK in incredible heat, slather ourselves in sun tan lotion while we wait. For those of you who don’t know, Becky is actually a natural red head with very pale skin and frizzles easily in the sun, especially as she normally keeps vampire hours and doesn’t get to see the light much!

It’s a packed bus, with a crying child standing right next to Becky which she loves of course….she’s a very warm teenager you know! ;) The first glimpse of the castle is awesome as usual, with the pretty spires decked in gold for the special anniversary season. In no time we’re walking up main street just looking and grinning. It looks very busy but the waits for the rides aren’t too bad. We wander thru all the shops then head straight for Space Mountain and a fast pass, which is one of Becky’s favourite rides. As Im coming back in October with Mark, this holiday is all about Becky really. We’re ready for a drink then as its uber hot and settle down to people watch with a raspberry and cherry slush. SM is as fab as ever and I do my usual maniacal laughing as we whoosh thru ‘space’ and Becky hoops and hollers. Then over to Buzz for another fast pass while we ride the blue transit train for a nice cool rest. This heat is really draining on us both and we find we need frequent stops and drinks. Buzz is good but we score pathetically and are rather embarrassed at our rubbish attempts. I blame it on the heat! In each shop we go in Becky has to try on different hats (I was going to call this the ‘Magic Hat Tour’) as she loves hats, so ive added some of the pix. LOL

Head round to the Columbia Harbour House for some lunch, where we go fort he ‘half sandwich & soup’ option. I have tuna s’which and clam chowder which is wonderful, and Becky has veg s’which and veg chillie soup, which is also apparently great. She seems to have found her appetite so far!

Its time for Haunted Mansion after this, and theres very little q so that’s good. (Wait times for SM were 40 mins and Buzz 30 mins). This is another of Beks favourites and she’d quite like a job on this or Tower of Terror….I think she’d be great!;) The ghost in our car at the end is hilarious as we swear it looks like he’s turning to me and kissing me!

Pick up a fast pass for Thunder Mountain then check out shops for cowboy hats which we sadly cant find. Becky has a thing about cowboys and pirates (don’t ask!) and is in heaven with the pirate ride and the subsequent shops. Buys a hat and big flag, but is also very taken with the tshirts and cutlass! Time for a citrus swirl (my fave) at Sunshine Terrace……mmmmm lovely………. frozen orange juice and yoghurt for me, just the orange for Becky). Make Becky watch some of the parade much to her disgust, but I love it! Unfortunately its now starting to rain, so Thunder Mountain is closed. Boo! We’re very disappointed as the storm starts to worsen and we get absolutely soaked…these are the perils of coming in August I guess, but we’re way too cool for ponchos so we just suffer and drown! Take the bus back to the hotel …..its very funny tho because the driver takes the wrong turn and ends up in the CBR!!!!! Very confusing!

Back at Pop Century we shower and change then head over to DTD and this is a good decision as it actually ends up raining for 5 hours!!!! Spend ages in the film memorabilia shop wishing we could afford it all. Then into Georges (the guitar shop) for Becky..no new guitars this time Steve! We think about going to the cinema but by this time are flagging a bit and think we might fall asleep. In Virgin for hours it seems, there’s so much we could buy but we’re very good and Becky just buys a Misfits purse, a book on Japanese fashion and a graphic novel, oh and a couple of CDs of course.

Over to House of Blues to check out their menu and make sure they have something for Becky, which they do, and there’s no wait so we’re seated at once. Love this place, its so cool, the service is great and the food is wonderful and a bit different. Becky ahs the HOB salad which she loves, we also have some rosemary corn bread, and then I have the special which is shark steak…yes really! Its really wonderful, with garlic mash and green beans. We’re much too full to think of dessert and just manage to stagger into Magnetron for a look, I have no idea why, but we find this store absolutely hysterical for some reason. Think we must be very tired and overwrought, but we can’t stop laughing and Becky is laughing so much, she’s crying and real tears are falling on the floor……….guess you had to be there. Come out with a magnet of some guy with the worst hair cut ever….apparently its one of the 3 stooges but we don’t know that til later, just find his face and hair incredibly hilarious and it makes us laugh all holiday.

What a lovely day, despite the rain! Back home Becky is sweet and fetches coffee for us both and then we fall asleep still giggling….mad as snakes that’s us!

Sweet dreams….

I want to go for a swim!!

and HOB for dinner, it just isn't fair!!

Laughing until you cry is one of the best feelings in the World. I really don't do enough of that these days. Reminds me of a previous trip... ;)

Sounds like you had a great 'girly' day. Have never been to HOB - another one to add to the list :)

What a fun day, just the girls together, was the shark steak really fishy tasting or did it have a meaty quality? Sorry to sound like a food critic, just really curious :flower: ,

Off to part 4,
Claire xx

i would say the shark steak was slighty meaty....a bit like sword fish maybe? yum!:)

Just catching up on your trip, it sounds like you girls had an awesome time. And what a cool hubby you have to let you go without him :cool1: Yet another one who stayed at my fave resort, yayy  Looking forward to reading more!
