Luck With Last Minute Reservations at Cake Bake Shop?

Hi Disfriends,

I'm kicking myself that I forgot to get an ADR for the Cake Bake Shop at my 60 day window. I've been trying off and on since then to snag a breakfast reservation for 4 on our check out day. I thought we could have breakfast and then walk the Boardwalk before we fly home, but I've had no luck snagging a reservation.

I'm wondering if there are any folks who have had luck snagging a last minute reservation here recently? I'll keep trying, and I know to keep looking for reservations during our trip, but with the restaurant being so new, I wondered if this is a fool's errand, or if other folks have had luck snagging something last minute.

When are you looking for? Are you looking on Open Table or just MDE? Reservations change often on both. OT seems to have spots closer to the date, like a week or so before but then disappears a day or 2 before. I was looking for Christmas week & OT had many more spots available than MDE ever did. Also, some posters have had luck calling the restaurant directly. There’s a whole thread with people’s experiences. Don’t read the whole thing, just the last maybe 10-20 pages.

@focusondisney Wow! I didn't know OT was even an option for the Cake Bake Shop. I've just been looking on MDE. I'm looking for a breakfast time on Friday, March 7th. I'll check out OT, plus I'll peek at the link you shared. Thank you!

I am also going to try OT for my trip. If unsuccessful on either MDE or OT, is the bar available for walk up seating? If so, how long has the wait been for the bar area? Thanks!

focusondisney: I can't thank you enough for suggesting Open Table!!! I've been trying for many attempts for Cake Bake for my adult traveling partner daughter and myself. Going to Disney for years and years and years and just really wanted something new. Had no luck and was giving up.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Even though crazy prices (my opinion), I'm so excited for us to go someplace new.....plus we always stay at BWV so we'll pick up cake also and drop off in the room.

Just checked through the weekend. I see time slots 3 of the next 5 days when I randomly checked. (Not even looking on Open Table)

The only places at Disney that I think are not attainable if you don't get them at 60+ days would Victoria Alberts and Fireworks Rose Crown. Other than that I would expect if I have a 5 days trip I can get this.

The exception to this would be if I was at Disney during the highest times (Christmas->NYE or Thanksgiving).

Just keep checking back but essentially once you hit day of, 24, 48, 72 hours out you will see reservations pop up as people cancel.

Yea! Glad you got a reservation! I agree the prices are crazy. But my husband loved the steak & fritters he had so much, he wanted to go agin. So we’re going again in 3 weeks. Ironically, we thought the cake was just ok while everything else was delicious.

Fingers crossed both of your meals are great this time and a different cake. I don't get super excited any more because of the zillion trips since Poly/Contemp opened (I'm old), but I'm actually excited about this reservation. Thanks again for the wonderful tip. Be Our Guest in it's heyday made me feel this way, but just went too many times.

OP here. Thanks again for the Open Table tip! I was able to snag the exact reservation I wanted. I'll admit, I was way more excited about this reservation than my DH and two twenty something DSs. However, we ALL agreed it was the best meal we had on our trip, hands down. The food was delicious and the atmosphere, while very pink and girlie, was terrific! DH got the gumbo and he felt it was phenomenal. One DS and I got the chicken velvet soup, and we both agreed it was the BEST soup we've ever had.

So, again, many thanks for the table snagging tip. DH and I are heading back in November with my cousin and her DH who haven't been in over a decade. We are so excited to show them so many things that they've never experienced, and The Cake Bake Shop is a definite ADR we will be booking.
