I have had some reasonably good success getting great hotels using Hotwire in some parts of the country, but have never tried it in Orlando.

I am greedy--so I am seeking an "upscale bargain" near WDW. Anyone have any luck doing this. I see they advertise a 4 star for $119 in the WDW area, but am very reluctant to pull the trigger until I can get a better sense of what properties might be in play.

Anyone with any luck/system for doing this?

I have used Hotwire several times for Orlando vacations. I have had only one not-so-nice hotel stay, but it was a really cheap, 2 star place for 1 night, so I can't really complain (it was the Days Inn Maingate East, btw).

I got Radisson Resort Orlando- Celebration this past fall for approx $80/night- nice hotel with pretty pool complex and very close to WDW.

Did a super budget trip in Jan '07, and got Howard Johnson Maingate East for $30/night. Older hotel, definitely budget, but clean and big rooms- pleasant staff, too.

Going in May, and got Extended Stay Deluxe LBV for $32/night. Looks like a decent place- all rooms are suites with full kitchens, within 2 1/2 miles of DTD.

I'd use Hotwire again for sure- just go for the star level and area you want.

Check the amenities and see if matches up with one of these will give you a good idea of what you might be getting. I would be happy staying at any of these.

I love using Hotwire w/ betterbidding.com. I've never used it for Orlando, but always use it for weekend trips and have had great luck!

Yesterday I got a 4 star for the night we arrive for $36.00. I am very pleased with the hotel and the price. This is the first trip that I have used Hotwire. I also bought my air fare for about $104 per person less than directly through the airlines web site. :cool1: I plan on using them again.

We were hoping for the Omni for a pre cruise trip (we're doing Disney after the cruise), but we'll take what we got!

Through Hotwire (we wanted to guarantee two beds), we got the Gaylord Palms for $109/night. Rack rate is $270 so more than half off!

We wanted to stay in the Omni for the lazy river, but for what we're saving, we can go to Typhoon Lagoon :)
