Luck of getting one more night?

So my wife and I are going to WDW staying onsite from 10/19-10/23. As of right we are staying from 10/19 - 10/20 at CSR and 10/20-10/23 at CR. Since it's a short trip we'd like to be at CR the entire trip (once we went deluxe we couldn't go back) but there is just no availability at CR for 10/19. So I was just wondering if anybody has experience with these types of situations. Do people cancel often? When is the best time to check availability? Any tips or info would be greatly appreciated.

just keep refreshing and hope for the best!

something will show up eventually-- this happened to my family when we were booking hotel rooms for our upcoming trip.
if not, staying somewhere new is an awesome experience. if you are out of luck you should try staying at POFQ.

Thanks. I'll keep checking if we have to spend a night at CSR it's not a big deal. I'm sure we'll enjoy it
