Luck getting hard to get ADR's day of?

Has anyone had any luck getting those proverbial "hard to get" ADR's on same day as you go? Did the Disney Cast Member fairies from the hotel help you achieve the unattainable? This February is the "Queen and Princess Trip" and it's a trip of firsts. First time at POR, first at most of the ADR's I got, etc. I am unsuccessful getting an ADR for CRT. Will continue to try until we actually leave, but was wondering if the friendly CM's at POR would be able to help also. Doesn't matter what time, just wanted to cross off the WDW bucket list.

Sign up for the reservation finder. I think for CRT since it has a 48 hour cancellation policy, you'd have better luck finding one a couple days before you go instead day of. But you never know. When I walked by it on my last trip they were asking if anyone wanted to eat that was a party of 3. I guess someone didn't show up.

I don’t think you’ll get many on the day-of. I find that many open up a day or two prior. Since CRT has a two-day cancellation policy, I’d check two or three days prior.

Yes.......I was going to try that also. Hoping also since we're going at a "slower" time - that something would open up sooner so I could finalize all my plans. No worries since this is supposed to be a "stress free" trip......no commando, no rushing, etc. The commando daughter isn't going this trip - the laid back daughter is going -

DD and I decided to add on the DP so we have one TS ADR each park day and DS.

I lucked out and found a BOG dinner for 6 people same day during a previous Xmas trip (it was not actually Xmas that day). Most people cancel 24 hours before to avoid the no show fee, but since the cancellion is 48 hours for CRT (as @supersnoop said), check 2-3 days ahead for that one.
