has anyone else tried this? I've been trying for a while and last night it worked!! basically you "control" your dreams. Its so...cool! Of course, it leaves you completely exhausted....

Yes, and I love lucid dreams! For some reason I always feel more refreshed and rested after a lucid dream; I don't know if it's because it's a different kind of sleep or if it's because I'm so energized from the experience. Also, when I'm truly lucid I've found that the quality of my dream changes...it becomes much more lifelike and 3-dimensional. The experience reminds me of those 'magic eye' pictures that were popular years ago...the ones you look at a certain way and then all of a sudden the hidden picture appears in 3-D. I only manage to have them a few times a year, though...I wish I were better at it! What technique did you use to induce the LD?

I pretty much followed the information on the Lucidity Institute website. First I worked on my dream recall and and then I visualized myself doing something again and again till i fell asleep. i didn't realize tehre was more than 1 technique. it seemed like all the websites I checked referred to the Lucidity Institute. what technique do you use?

lol, no Jason...i don't mean liquid dreams. :teeth:

I sorta do this fairly often. I used to have nightmares a lot as a kid, so I learned how to control the dreams just enough that they weren't so scary most of the time. At one time, I imagined that the headboard of my bead was a "dream machine" and I'd literally punch in the dream that I wanted for that night -- usually involving the TV characters or book characters I was really "into" at the time. ;)

I don't know if what I do is "true" lucid dreaming, but I just automatically take control of just about any dream that is disturbing to me, give it just a slight twist, and let it go again. I've woken up angry from dreams that way occasionally, but I'd rather wake up angry than scared. ;)

Ditto, kinda:teeth:

Von, I just let my dreams go the direction they want to. I let them have free rein to frighten, excite or sadden me.

I tried that once in college. I woke up with a heckuva headache, though.

I've had lucid dreams all my life. Up until recently, I'd never actually heard the term "lucid dream" - but I recognized it as being what I do. It's true, they are exhausting. I don't try to have them, they just happen.
