Day 5
Its Wednesday, and Murf was off to play a round of golf at the Magnolia course. I headed over to the Magic Kingdom to enjoy the rides Murf wouldnt like, and to do a bit of souvenir shopping. Again I took the boat over, and got there about 9:30 AM. I started on the right-hand side, and checked out the Kodak exhibit hall. This is a very cool place, with great opportunities for photos! Wish Murf was here, hed find it very interesting. I then hit the shops on the east side of Main Street, until I found myself at the Bakery. Oh, I didnt have any breakfast, cool! There were all sorts of goodies here! I tried to be good, and had the Apple Charlotte. I took it outside and enjoyed it with a cup of coffee while sitting at a table on Main Street, watching the people pass. It was very good! It was then off to Tomorrowland, and a quick trip on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority. Again this is one of my favorites! I then walked over to Mickeys Toontown Fair. I felt a bit silly walking into Minnie and Mickeys houses without any child to chaperone (me.) I loved the garden area, and wanted to take a photo, but just giggled at myself for being silly, and walked off. I even delighted in Mickeys garage. The details were great! Im really glad I check it out. From there it was off to its a small world. Another favorite, but I just couldnt bring myself to drag Murf along, so I rode it today, by myself. It was about this time that I noticed the crowds werent too bad here. I continued on around, visiting all the shops along the way, and stopped in to have a dole whip. Not too bad, and very refreshing on a hot day. I toured the shops on the left side of Main Street, before stopping into Town Hall to ask about tours. I then went down to the pier to catch the boat back to the Lodge. I had a nice time talking with the CM at the pier, a retired gentleman, who loved his work. He was one of many we met during our stay who delighted us with their insights. I then went back, and was swimming at the pool when Murf found me. He played with a couple of fellas from England, and was thrilled to have pared all the par 3 holes (dont ask about the other holes ) He said the golf course was great, and he made plans to play there again on Friday morning. This is the course with the Mickey sand trap, you see on TV, and where the PGA plays at Disney.
We decided to eat at the Brown Derby again. We got there while they were still serving lunch, but we wanted the Lump Crab, which was only offered on their dinner menu, so we waited around until 3:30pm to have another one of there great meals! We had the Surf and Turf and it was delish! Then it was off to DTD to hang out until Cirque Du Soliel at 9:00pm. I purchased a great travel straw hat at the Garden Shop, that Ive had my eye on since I first arrived. I wanted everything I saw in that shop; a very delightful place! By 8:30pm we made our way toward Cirque, and the hordes of people who were do the same thing. This show is eye candy! I didnt know where to look next! We both loved it, and considered it one of the highlights of the trip! But with every good there is some bad this bad was Bongos! I have to say I was beyond disappointed in this place it was terrible! Perhaps it was the late hour, and perhaps the fact that there were few dinners should have been taken as a cue, but the best thing about this experience was the appetizer, which was hard to ruin, since it was shrimp cocktail. Service was very poor; we waited over 30 minuets after we were seated to even get a drink of water. And after our meal, (it was barely warm, with no taste!) it took another 30 minuets to get our bill! I dropped a note in the suggestions box, as well as sent them an email the week after we returned, but I havent heard a thing. And to add insult to injury, when we reviewed our room charge, we were charged twice!!!!!! I was really looking forward to a taste of Cuban food, too bad! Even the woman at the desk at the lodge, said it wasnt really considered by most to be Cuban food! Tomorrow its back to MGM and Hoop Dee Doo!
