Hi all, I'm down to my last ressie for our trip and we want to do a dining show. We have done the Luau before when my kids were little and loved it. They are now 12 and 8 now. We already have Chef Mickey's and Garden Grill so characters are not an issue. What are your opinons on which to book?
We did the Backyard BBQ with my 12 year old nephew last year in August. He really was a bit old for it. While we all had a great time, if he was younger (average age was probably under 8) I think he would have had more fun. If you haven't done HDR I would pick that. Tons of fun & food. No characters.
I love both. Big part of me loving the BBQ is my daughter will get up and dance...she is not shy. Most of the kids on the dance floor are 2 - 8. My boys will not dance, or even tap their feet under the table! If it were just them, Id skip it. The food is typical BBQ (burgers/hotdogs/ribs and salads). I like the food much better at the Luau. For entertainment, its a toss up. I love the hula and fire dancers. The skit is hit or miss. They change it up every few years. Sometimes I loved it, others I didnt. Im not a huge country music fan, but I do appreciate a good live house band. The lasso tricks are cool too.
Honestly, I cant decide! If youve never been the the BBQ, maybe give it a try before your kids get really too old. If all else fails, you still get unlimited Mickey Bars!
