Luau or is Starlit Hui enough?

Hi! Can you tell me more about the Entertainment Book Paradise Cove deal? Did you buy the book locally in Hawaii? We used to buy them here in Arizona, but haven't for a few years. Do you know if I have to purchase a particular Entertainment Book to find the Paradise Cove discount? Thank you!

You order it online at home and it's sent to your home. It's cheap now cause it's only good until december. You get 25% any of the 3 packages for up to 4 people. You call and make reservation and they charge your cc the reduced rate and you must present the coupon when you arrive at will call.

We got the middle of the road, Orchid package. Worth it. We enjoyed the luau and food.

The starlit Hui is luau like. But, just a short island show and not as long or elaborate as a Luau and no food. Also at Starlit hui there are a lot of people walking around and children jumping in your photos...

Worth seeing but one doesn't replace the other! IMHO

Sorry to hijack this thread, but does anyone know where I can still get this Entertainment Book for cheap? I had looked a month or two ago and it was $15, but now all I can find is $35 and I'm wishing I'd ordered it earlier. We are going to Aulani in November. I am actually trying to get it for the Polynesian Cultural Center BOGO admission, not the luau. If anyone can find it available cheap, let me know. Thanks!

Google entertainment book Hawaii 2014. It's about the 4th link on the page. It's only $5.99 now and a little shipping. This will only work through December, 2014. Past that you need a new one and that's full price.

If you have trouble pm me your email and I will send you the link :)

It seems like most people are recommending the Paradise Cove Luau. Would you guys say the convenience of proximity is a big bonus? Or was that one of the primary selling factors? Wondering if there are other luau's that are better, like the one mentioned at the Poplynesian Cultural Center.

Really appreciate all the tips!

I'm pretty sure I've been on the link you're talking about, but when I click through to try to purchase, it only shows the $35 option at that point, despite the previous $5.99 listing. Are you getting it to go in the cart at the low price? Thanks! :goodvibes

The fact that it is a leisurely walk down the well-lit street, with ample sidewalks, was our reason for picking it. (We didn't rent a car for the trip). Very pleasant evening.

The luau is a bit campy at times, but I think you have to go once if visiting Hawaii. ;-). Be prepared with "tip money". There are spots to make leis, headbands, get temporary hand drawn tattoos, canoe rides, etc, and all have a tip basket. It's one of those things you sometimes forget about in the age of credit cards. Lol

The male dancers were so handsome!! ;-)

Bumping my question for those who are there or just got home recently. Thanks. :)

For sure Tuesday and Thursday and might be Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday.

Also, FYI, there a dvc member mingle on Friday nights. Ours got cancelled due to Iselle!

FYI the Polynesian Cultural Center's is run by the Hawaii BYU Mormons. There is no alcohol served at their luau. This and the distance are big turn offs for most to attend the PCC luau.

Great! Thanks. We get there late Thursday and leave Thursday evening so I guess it will be Tuesday or Sunday if they have it for us. What time does it usually start. I know I made reservations for Ama Ama that night but it is it is early-ish.

We are not DVC member so no mingle for us.

Wow no alcohol? that is a definite no-no!

And, from what I understand it is not the traditional luau food either. It's not the buried pig.

I have heard their show is the most authentic.

Since it gets mixed reviews we were worried about Paradise Cove, but we were pleasantly surprised. Liked the activities before, the food was good and show was awesome.

Because of drinking, we wanted to be walking distance. Were doing Fia Fia but it was cancelled and new one gets bad reviews. So we decided on Paradise. Nice, easy walk.

Highly recommend. I'll post photos when I get around to a trip report.

We attended the Starlit Hui last evening. Very nice, but the hula and fire dancing was nothing compared to the show at Paradise Cove Luau. So, to the original poster who asked if it was "enough" or should they go to the luau also, I would say definitely do the luau, at least once in your lifetime! Lol

I believe the friday night DVC mingle is for non-members too. I think they do a little sales pitch then have drinks, munchies, games, etc.

You need a ticket so just check at the DVC desk behind the concierge desks to the right of the check-in area in the lobby as soon as you arrive.

Bummer. Maybe they ran out of 2014 cause don't know what they will do with them in 3 mos. The link it kept sending you to was for the $35.00 one. Try Amazon maybe?? Or E bay?
