Luau or Hoop-Dee-Doo for Honeymoon???

Hi! We will be at wdw on our HM in May - and I wanted to make reservations for either the luau or hddr. Any suggestions?

I had originally planned on the luau (before they changed it) but now I am confused again.

Please offer some advice!!

We honeymooned at WDW in 2000 and did the Luau. Like you mentioned, they've changed the food and the show, but the beach-front area it all takes place is very nice, and they sat us with another newlywed couple as well. We really enjoyed it and the setting was more romantic than we'd expected from Disney. We've never been to Hoop Dee Doo, but everything I've read says it is great fun -- I just don't know how romantic it is (if that's what you're looking for ).

...they used to invite couples celebrating anniversaries onto the "floor" for a special romantic dance. It was sorta sweet. But I don't know if they still do that with the new show.

That said: I suspect the South Seas theme might be a tad more romantic than the Wild West slapstick of the Hoop Dee Doo.

Either way, both will be memorable Disney experiences

I agree with the others. We did the Luau in 95 for our honeymoon and again in 98. Then we did HDD in 00, and 02. While in general I like the HDD better and IMO, the food was much better there too, for my honeymoon, I would do the Luau again... much more romantic.

Hi there -

We did both the Luau and the HDD on our honeymoon back in '96. The Luau was more romantic (and it was nice strolling around the grounds at the Poly afterwards) but the HDD was a lot of fun too. At the HDD we were seated next to quite a few other newlyweds and they had us all stand up and then someone rushed around to the tables and used our cameras to take pictures of each couple. It's the cutest picture of the two of us from our trip.

We're going back to the HDD this year with our 2 kids.
