LR3 won't recognize 6D RAW files

Anyone care to give me more details on how to do this? Does it mean I will have the original RAW file on my computer, then a duplicate converted to DNG, so will need twice as much storage space?

Good question. I've been using the converter for d750 files. i convert them right off the memory card, so only dng files are being saved on the computer.

So other than your problems with LR, is the 6D living up to your expectations?

I'm very happy with what I have seen from it so far. That said, I have not fully put it through the paces yet. Life has been sort of getting in the way.

The high ISO shots are amazing. It feels great in my hands. The extra weight hasn't even been a concern. The slow-ish burst rate was no issue shooting volleyball.

I did take it out the other day to shoot some of the blue fountains here in KC and really enjoyed working with it. Glad I realized before our Disney trip that I would need a different remote shutter release.

Another option, if you wanted to do it, is to use the 6D to process your RAW files. You can adjust everything on camera to export your RAW file as a jpeg (this is not the same as shooting jpeg + RAW). It's intended to be a way to process RAW in camera with your own settings then send it via wifi wherever you want. Its far from an ideal way of processing, but it could get you over the hump until you decide on a software solution.

I appreciate the additional suggestion. But I tend to shoot stuff then dump it into my computer and work on it much later.

Additionally I checked out the DNG converter. It doesn't look too complicated, but it appears that it does indeed save the images as a separate file so would double the space needed on my computer. I suppose I could then go in and delete the old files, but that's probably more than I want to do too. I'll probably end up going ahead and getting a newer LR.

You've also tried Canon's RAW processor, right?

No, I have not. I assume that's the software that comes with the camera. Would that allow me to download them in a file that LR3 could work with?

Last time I used it, which admittedly was a few years ago, you could export the file in various formats. So yes, it would allow you to get it in a format that LR can use. It's also a pretty decent RAW processor in it's own right.
