Lowes upgrade question.....

I am a Universal newbie! There are a lot of things I am learning on these boards, so thanks ahead of time. My question is two part.....If you use a AAA discount or an AP discount are you still eligible for the Lowes upgrade? Second part, which is a better discount, AAA or AP?

mixed answers will be posted on this question probably, all based on personal experience.

usually, the ap rates are better than aaa, depending on the time of year you are going.

for october, usually aaa rates are the best but sometimes the ap rates drop in september and it beats out the aaa deals for that time period.


you qualify for the loews welcome gift/upgrade if you book w/aaa.
some have stated they do not get the amenities when they book w/ap
it is set up for a loews member to only get the entitlements when booking with anything other than the ap. sometimes they do, sometimes they don't


you ask which is better? i have aaa and get the 10% discounts and hotel discounts. i have the universal mc which also gives the discounts.

i am seriously thinking of upgrading my 5 day pass to an ap as it has benefits that are great. free parking, food/merch discounts at a higher rate than aaa or mc, discounts on hhn tickets, specials during the year.

i am going in june and AAA rate is better than AP rate by about $23 a night (RPR, standard room).

right now for me, the aaa rate is better than the ap rate for the second weekend in october.

last year, the ap rate dropped 3 weeks before my vacation to a rate way below the aaa that i had booked. it was a better savings going with the ap than aaa at that point. it was an additional $25 savings per night under the aaa rate i had. this is why i am considering upgrading my tickets for my future trip.

i only go once a year so the ticket portion is not to my benefit.
what i am interested in is a deeper hotel discount if it would happen and the discounts on the hhn and epp with it.


sometimes the ap rate will drop unexpectedly.
we all love a bargain when that happens
