I was wondering if anyone knows if the points per night will be lowered for the Grand Californian once it becomes an official DVC property? Right now, all Disneyland properties are considered part of the Disney Collection and I have to pay almost 3 times the points per night than I do for a Disney Vacation Club property (like 24 points/night in value season)! Obviously, one doesn't get as much value from their membership that way. I live in California and purchased at Disneyland (SSR) and plan on going to Disneyland 95% of the time, I would love to get more value out of it.

I realize with how I purchased, I will be among the first to be offered GCH, but I'm bummed because I cannot afford to buy it (wish I could trade!).

Thanks in advance!

Yes - I believe the points per night to stay in the Grand Californian villas (studios at least) will be less than the points it costs to stay in the hotel now.

In fact, once the villas are available, it is almost a sure thing that we will not be able to stay in the hotel portion for points at all. We can't stay in the hotel portions of the WDW resorts that have DVC villas right now - i.e., we can't use points to stay at the BWI, the BC, the WL or the AKL.

Thnking of buying in, but don't know what the costs are?? Could you tell me what the points charts are for DLR?

I have come up with the below scenario trying to figure out what the cost per night would be if I bought into DVC. This is what I have come up with. Does it make sense?

So do you think it would be reasonable to say that on average 200 points got you 8 nights at one of the DLR hotels?

Then does this math work out?

For Old Key West:
Pay $80 per point for 200 points=$16000.
34 years left on plan=$470 per year
Dues=$912
Total per year=$1382
$1382/8=$172 per night at one of the DLR hotels

Or
For Vero Beach Resort
Pay $63 per point for 200 points=$12,600
34 years left on plan=$370.50
Dues=$1208
Total per year=$1578.50/8=$197

Are the points at Old Key West and Vero Beach Resort all the same, when it comes time to book at DLR???
