Lower National Rates, Again

These rates sure are crazy, aren't they? I made my first ressie for our upcoming trip, back in Feb. At that time, a 4 day EA rental was $176; I just rechecked and rebooked (I think this is the 4th time!) using the Priceless code and it is down to $110. Unbelievable! I will keep checking til the day before we leave. I can find other places to spend the $66!!

Robinette,

Can you tell me what code do you use to reserve your mini van and do you use coupon? Thanks

goosedwn ~ I used the priceless code 6600330 and a $20 off entertainment coupon to get that minivan rate. Just did it this morning. HTH

Thanks winterman! Just when I thought it couldn't drop any more....my EA ressie for 6/6 - 6/13 dropped again from $121.23 to $112.60. This is using the ENT $20 off coupon (10008615) & Priceless Vacations contract code (6600330) I know them off by heart by now!:p

I have been trying for our upcoming trip May 18 - 25 all day and I keep getting invalid contrac number using 10008615 and 6600330.

Is something wrong with Nationa's' website? Is anyone else having the same problem?

Have you cleared the cache on your web browser? National's web site can be flaky at times and clearing the cache seems to help.

Another thing to try is booking with the contract code without the coupon, then after you have made the reservation, go to View/Modify/Cancel and put in the coupon as a modification.

Thanks a bunch...
Didn't think I could get much lower, but now I'm at $117.57 for a week starting May 30.
The savings will almost buy another round of Mickey bars!!

Ok, this is crazy. We are leaving in 6 days and was quite satisfied with our rental rate of 131.50 for intermediate car for 7 days using Ent. coup. Now I just tried again, using Priceless vacation code and ent. coup and got a rate of $112.60. I am in shock. Is this for real? I know I need to show the Ent. coupon at the counter, but do I need to have a coupon or something for Priceless? Please advise as this is our first time using any codes at all. You wonderful people on these boards have saved me so much $$$$. I'm loving it. Just gives me more to spend once we get there. Thanks a bunch. :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Thanks!

I have a Mac and I think I cleared my cookies correctly however when I check for lower rates it still says the car type (mini-van) is sold out.
Could the fact that I'm not booking through the airport (off site location - Harvey, Illinois) be a factor? Maybe they have a limited amount of vans, but does that mean I'm doomed to a higher rate?

I checked for a different set of dates (1 June 12 days) and vans are available and the rates are MUCH lower ($488) than what I have ($585 - 26 June 12 days).

Thanks for any advice!

Thanks a lot Winterman! My nine day EA intermediate reservation just dropped from $248 to $160 including tax. You just made my day!:sunny: ::yes::  :earseek:

:bounce: National is driving me crazy. During the past 3 weeks, do in part to posts on this board, I have changed my rate (lower and for the better) 4 times. $274.44, to 242.54, to 186.87, to $184.86 and finally to $172.37 (this morning). I am renting an intermmediate for 9 days - starting May 13th. Using EA member code 5007125, web cose webk8 and bj's $20 off coupon (these can be found on their web site - we are members) 10009013.

I really did not think I needed to check rates again, 3 days before our trip.

I have saved $102 dollars. :bounce:

I'm so jealous reading all these posts about lower National rates.:(

I have 2 trips planned; the end of August (21st - 27th) and the end of October (30th - Nov 7th) and neither one has budged yet.

They are pretty high, IMHO.

The August trip for 7 days is $184.14 (total using Carlson code and Entertainment coupon) and the October trip for 8 days is $214.14 (total also using Carlson code and Entertainment coupon).

Don't know why.

Thanks
This depends on which browser you use.

For Netscape users, go to Edit-Preferences and click on the Advanced choice at the bottom of the left pane to expand the options. Select Cache and then click on the Clear Cache button in the next pane.

For IE users, go to Tools-Internet Options and select the General tab. In the bottom section of the pane, click on the button to clear the History.

That works for clearing the history, but, to clear the cache or temp. internet files, you need to go to tools, internet options, delete files. That is the only way to clear all those pesky temp. internet files.

I'm just looking for some reassurance. I've always used Dollar but with the ent. coupon and the priceless code I am getting a bigger car and saving $70. by going with National. I just ordered the entertainment book to get the $20 coupon( I hope that's where I will find it) Are they high pressure for insurance? Do I need to bring a copy of my auto policy to prove I have rental coverage or can I use my credit card that offers rental coverage? Sorry for all the questions, I'm just a little anal and a creature of habit so stepping away from Dollar where I know exactly what to expect at the counter makes me a little crazy. Thanks for any help you all have.

Yes, the coupon is in the entertainment book. No pressure for insurance. No need to bring your insurance proof.
You will also not have a hold placed on your credit card for more than the quoted rental.
you can also sign up for Emerald Club for free via the link on www.mousesavers.com This will enable you to have all your information on record, be able to go straight to the garage (unless you use an upgrade coupon) and select your car. Your spouse will also drive for free, automatically, no signing anything.
