Hey everyone,

We'll be taking my stepmother for her first trip to WDW in only a year and four months; lol! :rotfl: I know, I know, we have a while. However, the family is starting to get excited at the prospect of planning, which of course gets me all into the DIS! In fact, i'm planning this and a possible Spring trip, woo hoo!

Okay okay, back to my question...

So my stepmother must eat a diabetic friendly diet. I want to show her some of the yummy snacks you can get on the dining plan, but I also don't want them to be full of sugar. I think it would just make her sad.

Can anyone provide me with diabetic friendly suggestions and/or pictures (would LOVE pics)? I think this would make her super excited!

Thanks DIS buddies!

I don't have any photos to share, but want to suggest that you consider cross posting this on the disABILITIES board. They have a lot of experience on how to eat with various different needs, allergies, etc. They know which chefs specialize in helping people out etc, and will probably be able to hook you up. :goodvibes

You can also check out our snack photo thread here, but I am pretty sure that it's filled with tons of sugar and empty carbs.

I know that there are pre-packaged low sugar candies, but the only ones that I can think of are the normal ones that you'd see anywhere else in the world.

I don't have pics but I have experience. I had gastric bypass surgery in 2009 so I cannot do sugar. I found some great desserts in the "no sugar-added" category. The Wave has an amazing trio dessert of chocolat mousse, berry "cobbler" and creme brulee that is amazing..my DH finished mine and thought it was better than his regular; BW bakery has an amzing no sugar added cheescake that you can use snack credit for(I did this on NYE!!); Kona also had a very good no sugar added fruit dessert(apple I think). I will tell you not to bother with the no sugar brownie that is available with some CS meals as dessert..no flavor, just dry. You can look up which places have these options on the menus in allears website.

I'm not diabetic or anything, I'm just not a sugar fan so here are my favs sorry no pics though (what was I thinking:confused3 :lmao:).

50's Prime Time has the best no sugar added cheesecake!

I really like the no sugar added brownies that can be found all around.

Kona-No sugar added apple stack. Phenomenal!

I will be going to the wave in about 2 weeks and will definitely be trying their no sugar added dessert trio! Looks amazing!

Also, they have fruit and veggie stands at all the parks you just have to hunt unfortunately!

You will LOVE the Wave's desserts and the meal there..we are planning a return next trip..thanks for reminding me of the Kona stack..I knew it had apples..its great also. wonder if the cheesecake at 50" PT is as good as the one at BW bakery..now I must try it!!!

I also see no sugar sorbets at a few TS restaurants...

Definitely try 50's! I was absolutely suprised at how fabulous it was! Nice creamy texture and a very tasty fruit topping!

I actually really liked the SF brownies found at counter service places and all over. People seem to love them or hate them. But I am not into limiting my sugar and I still thought it was good!
