Low crowds should equal better discounts, no?

All the vloggers I’ve skim through almost daily have stated wait times and crowds are exceptionally low this summer. You would think they would come out with some better resort discounts to combat that. I’m not complaining. I got a really good AKL rate for our stay in September That being said, I’d be happy for a better one to come out based on these low crowd reports. Does anyone think it’s still possible to have another fall discount come out?

I thought for sure, we would see a Disney visa or something but nope. I guess they would rather let rooms sit empty vs discounting them. Doesn't make much sense to me but I guess that's why I'm not a CFO for one of the biggest companies in the world. Our stay is in a couple of weeks and I still have my choice of any hotel, any room available, that's crazy.

I am crossing fingers this results in a great discount being offered for our trip in January. Our last trip in Jan-Feb 2022, we had NO discounts. First time we ever had to pay rack rate and hoping it's the last time.

They had stopped giving me the 10% off for club rooms altogether. We will be there in a few days and I'm more than willing to remove the 2BR suite along with 2 regular club rooms at AKL from their inventory for a 30-35% discount. I even called to negotiate and was immediately shut down. The rooms are still available as of today. I guess they'd rather leave them empty.

Same, couldn't agree more! I would glady take a 35% off CL room but I'm not paying rack rate. Good for you for trying to negotiate!

There *are* a lot of great discounts for the June-September period. I had my pick between multiple discounts/offers including free dining and different room discounts, and after much deliberation and number crunching, opted to just keep a bounceback room discount and the 4-day "Magic Ticket."

I'm not sure what else we would expect to see? October through December are usually excluded from most discounts because rooms fill due to parties, special events and fewer days that feel "hotter than sitting on the face of the sun covered in baby oil and wrapped in aluminum foil."

If we see anything else, we may see something very targeted: PIN / UOC discounts for specific rooms in specific resorts for specific dates.

$195 at a value is not a good deal, in my opinion but that's what it's going for this summer with the tiny discount they are giving. I paid $135 for the same exact room a couple of months ago. CL have zero discount under all offers. FD covers very few dates. Are there offers? Yes, are they good? No and it shows. There's TONS of availability everywhere for all dates, that says something

No.

I went in early Dec last year. Discounts were scarce for the previous couple months (Disney pulled the general public offer suddenly in like Oct). They were early holiday rates then so hotels were rather expensive. Both hotels I stayed at were basically dead and the front desks and F&B CMs I chatted with confirmed they were oddly quiet (CSR & YC). I think it was Disney’s attempt to have their cake and eat it too (get discount bookers early to lock in a certain portion of profit and fill in the rest at rack rate as gravy). Maybe it mathed out though if they’re still holding rates high despite low occupancy levels this summer.

Yeah, discount availability seems worse this Fall than I’ve seen it for years and yet rack rate room availability is better. A pattern that has emerged the last year or so…

I am aware of the pletheta of different offers. I think I am actually booked on a unique offer code. We go 2 to 3 times per year. Fall is one of the times we always go and historically have received a “deeper” discount. I was referring more so to limited resort availability for certain discounts. Like my post said it was only even something I paid attention to because multiple vloggers have commented how empty the parks are.

I really thought/hoped another Disney Visa discount would come out, but nope.

I agree the availability for the discounts are super scarce for my dates 2nd week in Oct and 2nd week in Dec. There is rack rate room availability for all the resorts I've checked. And what is everyone doing about the no discount on weekends this fall? I'm considering off site, then move over to a Disney resort if I can find a discount during the week. It's disappointing to say the least as the resorts have gone up in price so much, and now harder to find a discount.

One of my kids has the full week of Columbus Day off from school and my other one has Columbus Day and Tuesday off. Discounts for that week are indeed skimpy, but my experience with October is that it’s much busier than summer / early Fall, and the lack of discounts reflects that. Disney is great for short trips, which this would be (likely 4 nights), but the rack rates in Oct are on par with luxury properties. I like HHN and looked at Universal and it’s not much cheaper than Disney. We probably will do something more cultural, like CDMX.

Yeah I figured Columbus Day would be busy, so I was trying to book the week before. What's funny is I can get and AP rate at YC Columbus Day week, and not the week before. I know F&W brings a lot of ppl on the weekends, but I'm only going during the week. I would really like to avoid that Columbus Day week, but really want to stay at the YC as I know the pool is closing in Jan until summer and that's my absolute favorite place to stay. But not at Rack Rate, lol!

I think you're right. I've been eyeing a few suites at AKL for the past weeks and it appears that someone had taken one of "my" suites just two days before arrival. If that sucker is paying full cost then good for them, lol.

YC is a convention hotel & October has a lot of big conventions. The hotel is usually pretty well booked those weeks & has very few discounts.

Oh yeah, I know Fall & Spring are big convention times, but as of right now Resort and Water View and both views in Club Level are still available at Rack Rate, so I doubt there is a convention as usually they have a big room block until closer to the date and then release rooms if they are sold.

I’m already getting antsy for the June 2025 discounts to come out (if they are happening…) anyone know when that typically happens? Right after the new year maybe?

Check Mousesavers, mantysk8coach. They have a great listing of historical discount release dates.
Hope that helps
