Low crowds should equal better discounts, no?

I totally get that! It’s been kind of surprising to see lower crowds but no major discounts to match. I think there’s always a chance for a fall discount to pop up, especially with how unpredictable Disney can be with offers. They tend to roll out last-minute deals when crowds are lower to boost bookings, so it wouldn’t hurt to keep an eye out. Since you scored a good rate at AKL for September, that’s already a win!
This discussion took place last summer 2024. It turned out the crowds weren't low according to Disney's quarterly report.

The quarterly reports do not specifically address attendance at the parks unless it grossly affects operating income for parks & experiences (which includes DCL). In Q4 of 2024 (July-Sept), the 3% increase compared to Q4 of 2023 was attributed to increased per capita guest spending, lower DVC sales, inflation, the depreciation of Galactic Cruiser in Q4 FY23, and new guest offerings. A mixed bag of positive and negative influences. But no mention whatsoever of attendance. I don't think that one can surmise that attendance was robust, flat or decreased from that quarterly report.

However in Q1 of 2025, a decrease in attendance for domestic parks was one of the negative factors specifically mentioned having influenced the 5% decrease in operating income compared to Q1 FY24 at domestic parks and experiences for Oct -Dec 2024. Much of that was attributed to hurricanes in late 2024.

We don't need an actual headcount to make an educated guess. If a company continues to do well despite XYZ factors, then it likely doesn't have a low level of patrons.

The topic of this thread is about room discount, which was very minimal last summer. I thought they would jumped at the chance to gain $xxxxx for three nights (see post #4), but in reality they couldn't wait to disconnect the call. That, to me, did not sound like a company desperately in need of customers.

By the way, those rooms were all sold out when I made an inquiry at check-in.
