I'm curious about it, it's getting HIGH marks on another site, people claim it tastes like the real thing and doesn't stall them at all...

My son is missing the HECK out of Macaroni and cheese and what a thrill it would be to offer it to him every now and then! All of the other low carb pastas got BIG thumbs down!

Here's the lowdown on it: http://www.dreamfieldsfoods.com/healthyfaqs.html

Anyone tried it? I would like to buy some this weekend.

Robin, I've had Dreamfields several times since I found it at my store. It really is good. Cooks in the same time as regular pasta and has the same taste and texture. I've had no problems with it as far as weight or anything.

One thing I found interesting...the serving size is 2 ounces dry. Doesn't sound like much but boy that is a generous serving when it's cooked! Maybe because it's been so long since I've had pasta, lol.

Big thumbs up for dreamfield pasta
it's awesome
you wouldn't even know the difference
I made macaroni salad with it
put it in soup, spaghetti
a little more expensive than regular pasta
$2.00 a box at wegman's but I'm worth it

Darn, my Kroger's didn't have it! I hate to have to search for low carb stuff, they're never where you think they are and if you ask for it they look at you like you're nuts!

I can't wait to try it, my son will be thrilled to get a side dish like that for once!

Thanks, guys!

Our local store is now carrying alot of the Carb option items. Each is made by a known company...such as Wish Bone italian dressing, 0 carbs and sugar free.....Ranch dressing that is yummy, 0 carbs and 0 sugar.....they also have Ragu spaghetti sauce, alfredo sauce and I believe pesto sauce. Never bought them because I had nothing to put them on.....now I do....I will be looking for the Dreamfield pasta next trip to the store.

Tonight we tried the Lawrys BBQ sauce that was sugar free Hickory flavor....it was devine and what a change from plain old grilled chicken. I love this new line.

I did try their website and they only sell by the case! With only me and Michael in the house a case is a bit overboard! :earseek:

I called around to several WalMarts in my area and not one sells it. I've tried 4 Krogers to no avail also. By the end of the weekend I may just be sending YOU some money! :teeth:

I'm determined to find it though!

I'm going to look for this once we get moved! I really miss pasta, & all the other low carb ones I've tried were awful! I'm bookmarking the website now! Thanks for the info.

Okay, I bought a box of the penne yesterday, and made mac&cheese for lunch. The good news: it was AWESOME - no weird texture, no aftertaste, basically tasted like the "real thing!" :) :) :) The not-so-good-news: I have a sinking feeling that this must be too good to be true! Has anyone experienced a stall after they started eating this pasta?

ETA one other note: the box was only $2.69 - as opposed to some of the other brands that really try to gouge you. Woo!

The only way I'd even consider it was after a bunch of tried and true low carbers put it to the test themselves. None claimed stalls of any kind.

Of course, everyone is different so I guess I'll try it myself. It's worth it to me!

I went and bought this pasta tonight and used it for dinner. It is very good pasta, but it might interest you all to know that when I compared the ingredients and calorie count/nutritional info on between "regular" pasta and the Dreamfield's, the ONLY difference was that Dreamfield's pasta had 4 g. dietary fiber vs. the "regular" pasta which had 2 g. of dietary fiber. ALL OTHER NUTRIONAL INFO WAS THE SAME- same # of calories, same # of CARBS , same amount of fat, same amount of protein. The label on the box says Digestable carbs 5g. per serving..... but make no mistake- the carb count on the back of the box is
42g. carbs/serving. I will check with my dietician on Wednesday on what "digestable carbs" actually are and I'll bring her this box and the "reg. pasta box along and ask her to explain the difference.
Hope this info helps some that are deciding whether to eat this pasta or not.

I read through the company website, clicky, and they say it's because the remaining carbs are "protected" so your body treats them like fiber. Frankly, I have no idea what they're talking about or how they would do such a thing, but I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt unless or until I see any evidence that they're making it up.

On another low carb board that I frequent, there are several diabetic posters. They have checked their blood sugar before and after eating Dreamfield's, and the change is consistent with a 5g vs. 40g intake.

Edited to add that I am a MORON. I somehow totally missed the fact that my stunning revelation was covered right there in the OP. LOL!

I guess that's what I'm saying- it really is no different then a reg. pasta would be. I'm diabetic as well- my blood sugars reacted no differently to Dreamfield's as it does to any other pasta. I think that probably all pasta's could claim the same 5 g "digestable carbs"- and I think that what that means is that your blood sugar will only react to 5 g. of carbs vs. the true 40, due to the nature of the carbs used in the pasta. If all pasta's are made of the same ingredients, then they would all have the same "5g of digestable carbs". I'm still not sure though, so I am gonna go ahead and ask my nutritionist tomorrow. I'll let you know what she says- if you're intersted.

Tried it LIKED IT!

Purple ketone strip this morning!!

I found it FINALLY at a regular WalMart, $1.97 a box. I measured 2 ozs per, MAN that's a lot of pasta, and made Kath's cheese sauce to go over it. I put it in a small casserole and placed in the oven for about 15 minutes. It was GREAT.

karebear, I'm sure your nutritionist will have a say about these digestible carbs... ... let us know. Meanwhile there is a VERY long thread on this on another website with many skeptics who have relented. All I can say is it's an option that not everyone needs to try and as with everything, use it in moderation.

I'm just glad to be able to offer Michael a sidedish which made him yell WOW!!
:teeth:

OK- I'm back and here's what the nutrtionist/dietician said.... that Dreamfield's Pasta is no different then any other pasta- except that they have 2 more g. of fiber. That's it. I asked her if it would have the same effect on your body as a reg. pasta would and she said yes. So- if you want to have pasta- have it, but don't feel like you have to have Dreamfield Pasta for the 5g. of digestable carbs. Any pasta will give you the same effect. She also made a very interesting side comment about the government and regulations that will soon be put on companies that are claiming low carb status. It looks like they're not gonna allow the "manipulation" of that category. For example- the real carb count on the back of the box is 42g/carbs- in the future, they will not be allowed to claim it is 5g/digestable carbs. they will only be allowed the "real" carb count. Does that make sense? I think that's kinda sad because I know how beneficial "low carb" marked items have been to me as a diabetic. I think it'll just make things more frustrating for me- and probably all Atkins people of the world! Have you heard anything about this?
