We've saved so much with Vonage! We had it at our old house and it worked like a charm (unlike our miserable Magic Jack). Clear calls all the time and so much cheaper than traditional landlines.

Anyway... we were reminded of the joy of having it again since we just got Vonage again. We'd been trying to save money on our cell bills (which were our only phones for the last year or so), but our new, cheaper provider doesn't have decent reception in our house. So the new cell provider PLUS Vonage at home is still cheaper than our old cell company! Can you believe it?! And once again we have these clear, crisp phone calls at home!

And we've learned something new - you can buy Vonage adaptors on Amazon for less than $10! (I think shipping was like $5.) They're $40 at Walmart! Wanted to give everybody the heads up - just gotta make sure you're buying a "new" and "not activated" one if you wanna get started.

Hope this helps anyone who has been contemplating alternative phone services!

Does it hook into your computer? I keep thinking about it because we are paying $30 a month for just basic service, no LD, call waiting or any features. It's crazy.

Our magic jack has less issues, but it could be because DH only uses it overseas. We always had issues with the Vonage router on international internet. It was always having problems. No issues so far though with the magic jack and have had it almost a year.

Must have missed that promotion!

It's been ongoing for at least a year.:confused3. Another posted also let us know that until yesterday Vonage had a promo for existing subscribers for 9.99 a mo. for life unlimited U.S. & Canada.

you have a decent connection to other people with Vonage? we had in the past but almost every call was embarrasingly bad. And then it would disconnect. AWFULLLLLLLLLLLLL

Works great for me. Sounds no different than my old land line or my cable phone provider I had before. I do have amazingly fast internet speeds.

We got Ooma for $199 two years ago. I paid $11/year for taxes.....so I am out $9.20 so far per month for 2 years.

Every year I keep it, that number will go down. I currently have to pay $36/year in taxes as of January 1, so that will be $3/mo instead of .80.

That $9.99 deal from Vonage is pretty good, but there will be taxes on top of that. When I had Vonage for $25/mo I paid $33 because they tacked on $8 in taxes per month.

I have found Ooma to be a far better deal.

With taxes Vonage is $15 a mo. for me. It would take over a year for me to break even with Ooma & then I've read bad reviews about the hub's dying so then I'd have to buy a new one so we'd have to break even yet again. Plus I'd have to pay something like $40 to port my number which Vonage did for free. Not worth it to me. But I'm glad it works for you.

The quality has nothing to do with voyage it's the Internet source. I've used voyage in 6 different states since 2005 and the only problem I've had has been where we live currently which does not have fiber yet and has too many people using it. Even then it's only on occasion that it struggles due to the crappy Internet provider.

We've had Vonage for almost 4 years now and the quality is better then the regular line we had from IDT before. I was so happy to get 9.99 deal.:good vibes

If you buy your hub at Costco you can get it exchanged.

My break even point was 6 months, so it has been a good deal so far.
