Three more items sold within hours.

I do have good luck with Craigslist, but I am selling items people want, probably at too good prices also.

I know eBay would prob get better prices, but would rather deal locally.

Things are looking up:thumbsup2

Craigslist is great! I sold a sofa, a desk, chair, shoe holder, curtains, framed art, dog bed and a big piece of cat furniture. All in the past year and none of the stuff took more than a day to sell. Just price things well, make sure its clean and its gone in no time.

Now the bad part is when people take your free stuff and post it back up for a price. Especially, if it was supposed to go to someone who gave you a sob story on how they needed the fish tank for her son as a gift. (Then posted it up for $80) So now I tend to just charge for everything.

That's great! And you're clearing out clutter at the same time..:)

We much prefer CL too.. (I used to do eBay years ago before they hooked up with Paypal and started in with all their nonsense - as well as the buyers becoming almost non-existent for many of the same reasons).. CL is so gosh darn easy - and the way we price things we always end up with exactly what we wanted to begin with anyhow.. (Price higher and those interested offer lower - with the lower being precisely what we wanted..;)) Cash in hand and you're all done..:thumbsup2

Starting this early, by Christmas you should be in great shape for the holidays..:santa:

My 75 year old Father in Law loves selling on craigslist too :cutie:

They are downsizing and moving to a condo and he has sold all kinds of things on there - even their motorhome! :goodvibes

Since he's older I was kind of concerned about people coming to his house to pick up the items maybe taking advantage of him, but so far no problems at all with people or payments. Plus he lives in a gated community where security takes drivers license info from strangers entering, so that helps calm my fears a little.

I don't know what he'll do when he sells all his stuff, he'll miss the thrill of the sale.

We've been listing things on CL for the past few months and loving it too! It's so much fun to declutter and get paid for it !

How terrible!!

We were so surprised when we forgot to place an ad for my father in laws estate sale, so we placed the free yard sale ad on C.L. I couldn't believe how many people came it was crazy. I will never place a paid ad in a penny saver again!

Normally I love craigslist but sadly, I've been posting some Disney collectibles for about a year now with no luck. They are priced below ebay and not dealing with shipping. I just haven't found good takers yet.

On the flip side, we've sold 2 cars on there the first day of posting.

This board inspired me to post some stuff on CL this morning. I have a lot of stuff that I have been wanting to post but just have not had the time to do it. I am a little nervous about having people coming to my house to pick up stuff. I offer to ship it.

Do you have a male member in your household who could meet buyers at another location? Or perhaps you could do that yourself - with someone along - in a very public place.. I would hate to see you waste money on shipping - and of course you can't ship large things like furniture and such..

In this household (I live with DD and her family part of the year), her DH handles all of that - or if he's not available, DD's FIL steps in..

Of course when DD's DH sold his jet ski - as well as some very large car parts (front hood for a '71 Camaro, etc.) - the buyers did need to come here and purchased right on the spot (it wasn't a case of multiple buyers looking and leaving), but both of the men folk were present..

Just a thought..
:)

If it's small enough, plan to meet at a neutral location like Starbucks. Unless my husband is home, I never meet someone at my house.

Sorry - meant to start a new thread..

Thanks for the laugh!

Yeah, it happens and after you learn not to do offer free anything! Now if I want to donate something I'll sell the item and donate the money to a true charity. Even on here scams happen ;) (check out the thread on here some place about a similar topic) people just do these things.

This is what we do - my husband will offer to meet someone at the mall or something. We never have people to our house.

I sell a lot on CL as well. If I have to do pick up (DH isn't available for some reason), I meet at Starbucks or Walmart, and never come directly home afterwards.
