Wasn't sure what we'd think about the Dolphin after staying at the Beach Club and Poly in the past, but the teacher's rate made me try this Easter. Because of the discount I reserved a deluxe view balcony room which was a little more($174) but still almost $200. less than our standard room at the BC last year. I followed the forums advise and requested East wing, Epcot view, upper floor, than faxed the on-line form to them last week. Well, did we ever get a deluxe room. Room 8025, beautiful view of Epcot, BC/Boardwalk and lagoon. So peaceful. On Easter we came back from MGM with my in-laws who drove over to visit us, just to sit out on the balcony and take in the view. At night we had ring side seats of Epcot illuminations.
I don't know if I could ever repeat such a wonderful experience at this hotel. All I know is that it was worth the extra $45.00 a night for this room. Since this was our 7th visit to Disney, we do like to relax and hang around the hotel, and lucky for us, everything went just right.:)

Hi Glorydays:

Glad you had a great holiday at wdw, Can you tell me if being on the 8th floor made you feel dizzy at all, when you were on the balcony.

I know it is a silly question, but I get severe migraine headaches, and being up too high would surely trigger them. Also what floor do people enter the lobby, some hotels you are already on second or third floor upon entering?

Deb.

So glad to hear you had a great time - we are arriving at the Dolphin on Sun 4/7! You are the second person to get room 8025 - I'm keeping my fingers crossed for that room - sounds wonderful!!!:D

Glad to hear it! I am planning on the S/D for next Easter. I am tired of the WDW "rate game". Where you able to get the teacher rate for your entire stay? What type of room did you "exactly" reserve in order to get such a great view? how was dinning, that is the other thing that has me nervous. Did you find the Grotto pool cold?

Thanks!!!
sue

Cottontail - the Dolphin's lobby is on the 3rd floor.

I'm glad you enjoyed your stay at the Dolphin. It kind of balances the reports from those who had a less than wonderful stay.

Glad to see so many others going to the S/D
And while I have to admit that I have a little fear of heights, there was no problem with the 8th floor balcony. While it is not a hugh balcony, the gating is very high all around and we were very secure.

When I reserved the room I asked for a "deluxe balcony, n/s, resort/Epcot view" which someone else on the forum recommended. I later called and requested that East Wing be added, as that faces Epcot.
I was able to get the teacher's rate for 8 days initially, but we decided to include Universal, so gave up half the days for the HRH. But book early, I made my ressies last May. We didn't eat too much at the Dolphin, just breakfast downstairs and nice lunches at the pool since we ate at the parks for our dinner. I can just tell you the bottle water was outrageous! Bring your own! Pool water was nice to us, especially since it was pretty hot.
My teen and her friend thought this was the best vacation. It was good to get into the magic of Disney, rent a bike and peddle around the BC/Boardwalk,get in the mood, and the do the HRH second. It was such a nice time that we're already talking about making next year 4 Easters in a row.
Have fun to all planning!
:)

Hello: I also have the hrh booked, but I am having a hard time thinking about leaving the wdw area for the universal area. I have never been to universal but love wdw, and we do not get to go there very often, I think that is why.

How did you like the hrh, what type of room did you book. Now is it very relaxing over at the hrh?

Deb.

Your trip sounds identical to ours! We loved the Dolphin in February! Your room was two floors above ours, we were in 6025! Isn't the view just superb!

We watched the fireworks from Illuminations every single night that we were there (all 6 nights!)

Cottontail,
Have done both WDW and Universal at ther HRH. I am combining stays at the HRH and the Dolphin this July. You will LOVE the HRH. It is a five minute walk to the parks. The room key gets you express access to the attractions. Just show your key and get right in the express line. I've never experienced a perk like this anywhere. It makes visiting the parks a totally pleasant experience.

We are combining HRH with the Swan in Dec. We will be at HRH Dec. 22 for two nights, then the Swan on a teacher's rate for 7n. in a CL suite. Can't wait. We also like to enjoy the resorts and even golf, besides the parks and the great restaurants. Everything you could want in one place!!!

Ozziewags, it's very easy to spend a day or two just lounging around the S/D resorts! There's plenty to do, and with the Boardwalk at your backdoor, there's even more!

We are staying at the Dolphin in October under the Teacher discount as well. I was going to use my points to upgrade to club level. Do any of the club level rooms have a balcony??? If not can I stay in a room with a balcony and still upgrade to club level and use the lounge area? Last ? I have starwood points (mag. subscription) but have no stays yet. Can I still use the points although I do not currently have any stays on my account. I hope someone understands my ? lol!:p

The seven "P's" of a GREAT TRIP! So GLAD to see you back, safe and sound, and read of your wonderful stay at the WDW DOLPHIN! (A BREATH of FRESH AIR!). I love the fact you followed all the tips/hints and advice from the posts, and it all worked accordingly! Room #8025 is a BEAUT! We have stayed in #6025, and it has a comparable view.
Isn't life Grand when all the chips fall into the right places?!

You deserve a commendation for all the prep. & effort you put into this trip, insuring all would run smoothly (Pat yourself on the back, give yourself a HUG!:D ). I recall all the conversations prior to your trip...and am just thrilled it all worked so well for you and your family. Here's to Dreams...and the magic which occurs when they come true!;) TTFN....

Glad to hear you had a wonderful trip!! Sounds like the one we had last June and hope to have this June at the Dolphin!!!:)

Your room sounds great. We were upgraded to a balcony overlooking the pool area on the West wing. That was perfect for us. :)

Ozziewags

Can you tell me how much the teachers rate is in a suite club level are you paying for the club level or using your points? I am still trying to figure out what room and level to book ! Thanks !:p
