First time I've had a chance to post since returning. Spent a week (31 Jan to 7 Feb) at OKW and loved it there.

We had a studio room in building 19 - the balcony overlooked the bus stop in one direction and in the other we could see the umbrellas, etc for the quiet pool on Miller's Road...the Hospitality house was just a short walk away (5 minutes maybe?). Room was very clean when we arrived and had a towel swans :goodvibes

The staff here were wonderful and friendly and we loved the theme. It was a great resort to go back to and relax for the afternoon by the quiet pool and we enjoyed sitting at the picnic tables by Goods to Go for our lunches.

Although I have read some negative things about the transportation, we never had to wait over 10 minutes for a bus (either to or from the theme parks) and they were never crowded. The boat ride to Downtown Disney was relaxing.

Definately would stay here again!!!!

Thanks for the great feedback! We just switched our reservation to OKW and are really excited about it. Can you tell me about the balcony at the studio. Is it big enough that a couple people can sit out and enjoy it or is it one of the "standing room" only types?

We recently did a quick few nights at OKW and loved it! We were right across from the Hospitality House and had a great view of a fountain on the golf course. DD and I spent the mornings sitting on the balcony enjoying our breakfast and coffee:cloud9: It wasn't a huge balcony, but there was more than enough room for at least 2 or 3 people to sit comfortably. We could have stayed out there all day!!

It's so nice and Olivia's is one of my favorite restaurants.

Glad you had such a nice time.

:)

Glad you like it! We always think this is one of the hidden gem resorts at Disney :thumbsup2

Thanks for the positive feedback on this resort. I love the new refurbishments and I am considering a short stay at OKW in the very near future; this just gives me more confidence about it. Glad you enjoyed it.

Thanks for the report, how would you compare it to French Quarters?

We are heading to OKW in April and look forward to yet another resort.

We were in your area at Christmas to view the Christmas Light Show while visiting our son and family, the show was unbeleavible :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I am so glad to hear that you had a great time at OKW. We are planning on staying here for our June 2013 trip. We have toured the resort on our last trip and really liked the atmosphere, plus knowing that you can take a ferry to DTD is a plus too. We will be having our car when we go so the transportation is not going to be a problem for us :goodvibes.

We were there January 26 - 31, also in Building 19. The only thing I didn't like is we could hear the buses when going to bed. This was my second stay at OKW and we plan on being back in September. We love it.

The studio balconies are small in comparison to those on the larger units, but have two chairs and a small side table. So, yes, you'll be able to sit out there and enjoy!

Thank you for posting this!! We're staying at OKW for a week starting March 3, and I've had a couple of concerns so I'm very happy to see this!!

Our first few trips with DD we stayed with the grandparents at OKW since the rooms were larger. We've since stayed at all of the DVC resorts and will be making our first trip back to OKW for just a mom/daughter trip this summer. Did the studios receive as extensive a renovation as the larger units? Looking forward to coming 'home'!

We have stayed at both, we loved the small size of FQ and the rooms were a good size for the two of us. Food court had a nice selection. We would stay there again. Downside is only one pool, though you can use the ones at Riverside its not as good as having them right outside your door/short walk.

OKW is a lovely resort but it is HUGE, that being said we were lucky to be in millers road and it was short walk to the main building and the quiet pool was nice. Though it does feel very laid back and it is very quiet which is nice.

We stayed in a studio room and it was great, DH loved being able to sit out on the balcony and read his book. We like the small kitchen area. Found the beds to be a bit small though.

We have another trip to OKW booked for this october and have booked a 1 bedroom this time for even more space, Kingsize bed, better kitchen and a washer dryer in the room means we can take less clothing with us.

They have washers by the quiet pools for the studio rooms but we like the idea of throwing on a load in the moring and then sorting it out when we get back from the parks not having to hang about and wait for it.

The grounds are lovely and well kept, we saw loads of people tending to the plants and keeping the sidewalks clean.

The only downside we found to OKW is the the goods to go is small with a limited menu. The food we did have was good however.

Really looking forward to going back to OKW this year.

Glad you enjoyed it, thank you for sharing, this is one of the resort I am thining about staying next time :goodvibes

I absolutely love Old Key West  and can hardly wait to go back in April :dance3:

All the OKW villas have been renovated.

The studios have 2 queen sized beds and a covered balcony with 2 chairs and a side table. The balconies are big enough to walk around the chairs and table, not just barely big enough to fit, as some of the other DVC balconies.

So glad to see this! We will be staying at OKW for the first time in Sept. I have been second guessing my decision. This post makes me feel better about my decision.

We have stayed at all the dvc resorts and OKW is our favorite. Although BLT is a close second. Going back to OKW this summer!!! Can't wait!!

Thanks, mlittig. I have been a lurker for years and just decided to stop lurking join in the fun. I noticed you have stayed at many of the places I have. How does OKW compare to POFQ?
