Anyone seen any "Lovebugs" yet? DH is worried for our Sept trip. Are they really that bad in the parks? Peg

They arrive toward the latter part of September. They are quite miserable. We noticed them at the parks, but were really bothered by them at our resort, which was SSR. We could not use our balcony at all -- it belonged to the bugs. They were constantly swarming out there.

We're going earlier in September this year in order to miss them.

Any chance they're gone by mid/late October? We've never seen them in early November :confused3

They usually show up late Aug-Sept lasting about 4 to 6 weeks. they don't bite they are just a nuesance, especially driving. If they get on your vehicle be sure to wash them off as soon as possible or they can eat off your paint. They are not as much of a problem as they use to be unless you are in grassy areas.

Thanks for the information. Do they stick to people and food? Sorry for the silly question.

If you are moving very fast holding your plate then you may want to cover yourself with a bug net. :lmao:

Sorry, i couldn't resist. They do not stick to you. It's the guts that sticks to your vehicle  , you know, after they splat. they are like the manatee of bugs, very docile, not fast at all and interesting to look at. Before they have splat on your car that is. :rotfl: :rotfl:

I've been looking for some folks who have been there recently and haven't received an answer to this. 3 years ago this was a TERRIBLE problem and ruined my trip. I'm really hoping they'll be gone and not nearly as bad.

Maybe because I have lived in Florida for over 13 years I just do not notice them anymore but the only thing that I hate about Love bugs is washing my car. I would take love bugs any day over gnats, or mesquitos(sp?), or fire ants and when I go up north they have sweat bees(or that is what I call them):confused3. But for those that are concerned as of right now no signs of Lovebugs yet.

YEAH YEAH - Thanks for the update!!!:goodvibes

:sad2: oh the dreaded love bugs. I keep hearing they aren't there YET, but you never know when they show up in masses. It seems like there's always a few during the fall lingering but no more than flies are. Then the masses come when you least suspect it DUN DUN DUNNNNNN.

H was in Lousiana last week on hurricane relief, and said they are out all over the place there. Don't know how that compares to Orlando, though... I'm also hoping they stay away until after 28th.

I live near Disney, and the lovebugs are definitely here. They aren't too bad though, its just a few scattered so far. Nothing to get worried about.

I was there mid October last year and only noticed them when waiting at the bus stops. They were tons of them, but I never noticed them around the resorts or theme parks, only at the bus stops.Strange, huh? I Guess they were hoping to catch a ride on the free Disney transportation? :lmao:
