Love VB - but should I own there?

I'm at VB right now for our first time and we absolutely love it - definitely plan on returning here every year or every-other-year. I'm trying to decide if I should pick up a small 100 or 150 point contract here. But the higher MFs worry me. Is there a strong reason to own here (certain rooms book up at 11 months or better room preferences or something) or would I do fine just to add on more points at one of our existing home resorts (AKV, VWL) with cheaper MFs? I think this time of year is likely when we'd return, but maybe we'd come in the winter. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Sue (tired from a full day of hanging out at the beach)

We are owners and I'll bet most will say that you don't have to own there to enjoy it, and I'm guessing that for most that is true. We bought VB points resale after staying there during one of my spring breaks. We just had a garden view inn room that time, and still DH fell in love with the resort, and he's not a beach person, he's a "I want to relax on vacation" kind of guy.

We had our first stay in a Beach Cottage last year and hope to have another one next year. We probably will buy another resale, we currently own 150 points there, and it's just not enough for us to rent a cottage and the other rooms for family. Plus, we are the sort of people that do want to know where we're vacationing 11 months from now and aside from the family vacations, DH and I also want to go there at least once in every year. Yes, it's the maintenance fee that's kept us from adding on more so far.

I'm glad you're having such a great time. Enjoy!!! Have you seen evidence of turtle egg laying? Some of our group last year took a night walk and saw one laying eggs. It was a wonderful experience...bring lots of mosquito repellent.

Hey Sue... I'm glad you're having a good time. I would say if you are anticipating wanting to rent a beach cottage or during peak times you should consider owning there. Otherwise getting ressies there is still quite doable for most of the year. Things may tighten up in the future though with SSR, AKV, and BLT all coming on line that is a LOT more members with no more beach capacity. Time will tell.

Have a great rest of your trip :BEACH:

Hey! We just arrived here as well this afternoon in time for the torrential downpour.

We have 150 pts as well and are probably going to add another 50-100. I like owning here and having ability to reserve at 11 months. The mf are a little higher but the purchase points are cheaper.

every DVC they build NOT at the beach is someone else competing for ressies at 7 months. at least thats how i justified buying to DW :cool1:

Dedicated at Vero is 1 King, and 1 Queen and 1 Sofabed in 2nd BR, pullout sofa in LR, Correct??????

Any suggestions on awesome view 2 BR Dedicated Request?????????????????

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:banana::banana::banana:

We own at SSR, but we have gone to Vero each of the last 3 summers. We always book an Oceanview Inn Room, and have never had a problem getting our reservation. In fact, 2 of those years we called at about 4 or 5 months out and still had no problem. To give you an idea of time of year, one trip was in May and two in July.

That said, we have considered owning some points there as the Vero trips drain the amount of nights we can also have at WDW:thumbsup2

Correct on the bed config! Plus if it's been rehabbed you'll also have the sleeper chair in LR.

Dedicated 2bedrooms are not going to give you much of a view considering where they are located in the buildings. Request top floor and hope for the best.

We own at VB, because we wanted a beach resort that wasn't a high-rise and didn't want to take a chance at 7 months at Easter.
