I just got back today from the Swan. I used the $99 teacher rate and was actually given a NS/King AND BALCONY!!!!! Amazing. It was the best view I've ever had. I just got lucky. I prefer the Swan to the Dolphin because it seems quieter. There were many European families there on an Amway trip--all very nice!

Although the resort fee of $10 was dropped, there is a $7/day PARKING FEE that I did not expect. We self parked and still had to pay. Also, Internet is no longer free. We had to use it, so we paid $10 plus a communication tax. Just beware. There was still in-room coffe and a newspaper, AND the WONDERFUL bed! I left a note for an extra pillow and it was not a problem.

Ask for room 727 for a great view. We even watched Illuminations from the balcony. Love the Swan.
THANK YOU FOR GIVING DISCOUNTS!!!!!

We had this same situation last year, teacher's rate and a 730-something room with balcony and the most amazing views. We got a free upgrade. Incredible. praying for the teacher's rate to become available again this march (same time we went last year) but 99.00 you WERE lucky! One little perk to being a teacher, huh ? :cool1:

I've never stayed at the Swan, but are there any down sides to staying there as opposed to in a Disney property?

What differences are there besides not being able to charge things to your room?

The Swan is more "adult" and quiet. But the grounds, and interior are beautiful. It really is a first-class resort. You can walk to MGM and Epcot and are right next to the Boardwalk. I guess it doesn't have quite as much "Disney Magic" as the other on-site resorts but if you are going with your hubby or older children it is perfect. The only drawback is the high price, but you get what you pay for.

We stayed at the Swan for our first visit a few years ago, just after they introduced heavenly beds. I don't think there are any serious disadvantages, though you can't charge to your room and I'm not sure what the Magic Express situation is. The theming is whimsical enough to be Disney, but there are no obvious Disney touches or themes. You also don't get all the resort channels, just the usual Disney channels - and no Mickey soap. I love that stuff - but for the discounts you can often get, Swan is the best luxury value on property. And the location is excellent!! I suppose Dolphin is, too, but I love the intimacy of the Swan.

Gee, I'm about to talk myself into staying there again - though I do want to try other resorts!! Too many resorts, too little vacation time.

I"d be gushing if I got that rate, too!! Cheapest I've done is $144. Congrats on a wonderful trip - and I agree about Swan v. Dolphin.

I think that's just rediculous. Charging for Internet is common - but parking, at Disney!! Come on. . .

Glad you had a great trip.
