I know from time to time we see some negatives about guides but I just wanted to share a positive about my guide. The whole process was amazing. I originally got the information decided we wanted to do it. Then after getting the information going back and forth with the hubby we got "cold feet" because we still wanted to get some ducks in a row before joining. Our guide was amazing about everything! So understanding never pushing never trying to convince us now was the time no matter what. He just always made sure if we had a question he got right back to us with the answer immediately. There was plenty of times when I sent the messages I would get an out of office reply and even with the fact he was out of the office I would get a message back answering my question or some sort of communication, No matter what time of day he made sure he got back to me with the answer or the information I was looking for.
After deciding we wanted to wait on buying I asked him to keep us in the loop to what was going on incase there was something we had to jump on. Which he did always. He would send something saying "Hey guys have not heard from you in a while just wanted to give you a heads up this offer is out. Let me know if I you need any more information"

Well in July we got one of those messages about the SSR promotion. We had already booked a Pop stay for September and a PORFQ stay for Dec. So we already realized after going twice last year and again planning twice this year we love Disney and plan on making it at least a year trip for us we asked our guide to send us more info, which he did. We were very interested in DVC but we are not into SSR (sorry SSR lovers:)) So I told him we just don't care for SSR and he asked what resort we would like and he could get us prices on anything. So I said BLT:love:. He came back with the numbers and we love BLT so this was our time. We discussed my upcoming trips and he said he could work some Magic for us and ended up getting us a BLT studio Lake view for our December trip. We also discussed September but after only hearing that SSR was available I said I would keep my current reservation and book something else at the beginning of the year (which we did we are going in February!!) since my current cash reservation was already paid in full. Everything went smoothly after that we closed. He sent a message right after it closed letting us know it closed and to Welcome Us Home.

We went on our vacation in September, I never told our guide where we were staying or anything but he located us and left a message on our hotel room phone just telling us "He hopes we were having a wonderful vacation" After the closing I had not had any messages with him so there was no reminders we were going on vacation. He just made it a point to call us and tell us to have a great trip. I was very, very touched by that. He showed he cared about us and that meant so much.

My husband is a Sales Manager for a car dealership and he always says he wishes his salesman were this personable with their customers. Just those little touches really goes a long way.

Our guide (from our purchases in 2001 and 2002) recently retired and I wish he were still around to refer friends to. Somehow DCV trains them perfectly. No pressure, just a knowledgable friend who can answer questions. The product's good qualities help, too!

I know what you mean, we really like our guide too. We just bought into DVC during our September trip. I have been doing my homework before we went and I just knew we were going to make it a point to go on the tour. From the time we met him until now, he has been nothing but exceptional. Our guide acted like he was a friend that we have known for a long time and was very personal with us and told us a bunch about his own life (which we really loved that about). My DH had mentioned that Disney does a really good job at matching guides up with the types of families that go on the tours. For instance our guide is about the same age as us and is starting to have a family. My DH noticed while sitting and having our refreshments that older families were with guides who were a little bit older themselves. I am glad to hear that you have a wonderful guide too, they make deciding whether to take the next step and become members that much easier :goodvibes

Our guide was like that too. He had approx 1.5 years to wait in between meeting him and when we decided to buy, and he was perfectly lovely and patient and non-pushy in between!

He didn't call us when we used our points there, but we saw him randomly on the grounds of the Disneyland Resort, and he recognized us. :goodvibes

I am so glad there are others out there with great guides. I have read some posts before where people came across a not very good guide so it is nice to see positive experiences. I actually found my guide on the boards. We never went on a tour, my cousins bought into DVC back in 2008 so I was familiar with it. We actually just went on a tour in September (after we bought to get pumped about our December stay at BLT) and although the guides there were nice enough I just for some reason felt off about speaking to them. In some ways I felt a little pushed about adding on points. I think that if I went on a tour before I bought I might have had the same feelings. I am so happy we were referred because I felt a little more at ease that way. I guess it is like a review on a restaurant I just like others opinions before I try it myself. I don't like to be pushed into something or made to feel bad if I don't do something on someone else's time line. I am happy to say I never once felt that way and I am glad there are others out there with similar experiences.

I ink this is the norm versus an exception. :thumbsup2 Althugh some guides may have a bad day occasionally and may feel a little pressure to sell (from internal and external sources), I think the majority get great ratings from the community.

Oh, and welcome to the DVC ad BLT!

I'm waiting for people to chime in saying that guides are salesmen: well, that's true, but some guides are better than that- they go above and beyond what they are suppose to do. Ours is one of the exceptions. He is absolutely spectacular. We keep in touch on a regular basis, more like friends-YES I said friends. But I also know, when we add on (like we did a couple weeks ago), he will become our "guide"- nothing more, nothing less. Our first guide, who is no longer there, was just as wonderful. I can honestly say, if we didn't get her, we probably wouldn't have joined. We just clicked from the beginning, as we do now with our current guide. The things that impress me the most with the 2 we have had are: 1. they listen to us. 2. NO pressure. 3. they involve our 2 sons.
He has always sent us emails with the latest incentives or updates and left us messages in our room when we go to WDW (welcoming us home).
Yes, I am proud to say he is more of a friend than a guide!:)

Hi Katie!

You and I have the same guide I think (I'm pretty positive of it!)

HE IS AWESOME! DH and I flip-flopped for 2 years before we finally decided to buy in - and our guide was completely patient with me the whole time. Even if I had a question I had asked before - he still answered it...LOL
