LOVE or HATE FP+ Anyone's mind been changed ??

Which leads me to Disney's advertising campaign for the other parks. "Fast pass plus ,we spent 2 billion so it has to be good!":)
Actually, they are re-running their prior ad campaign that says:
"The best part of a Walt Disney World Vacation just might be staying at a Walt Disney World Resort!"
I guess this might be true since the best part of a Walt Disney Vacation cannot be waiting in 40 minute lines for rides that used to have 10 minute waits. Gotta give 'em points for truth in advertising.

Don't like FP+? GO TO YOUR ROOM!!

I'm still hopeful that FP+ won't pop up in the other parks. It just doesn't fit the DL mentality IMO plus doesn't Tokyo run independently from the other parks? Maybe they'll reject it (if they can).

Yeah, Tokyo isn't owned by Disney. Tokyo Land Company is responsible for sinking all the money into that park and it's the reason that park has the best attractions, according to most Disney nuts. Disney Co. just gets a cut of the profits.

I was thinking the other day - I wonder how many people got turned off of WDW because of FP-? What prompted the thought was the memory of man who went BANANAS at the merge point in the PP queue because the cast member made him stop to let me through with my little FP ticket. I wonder if he said "never again!" He certainly said a lot of other things unfit for mixed company.

:furious: <-- That pretty much sums up the way he looked :rotfl:

If a majority of people didn't know about it and didn't use it, how many times did people get super ticked off by scenarios like that one? They might not have erupted that like guy, but I wonder how many people thought it totally sucked and never wanted to go back?

True, and after a few more rounds of snark on both sides I put it away for good. I may always hum it in my head, but I will never utter that sweet name in a post ever again.

Heh. This is like the songs on the radio where they'll silence out the bad words but even a 9-year old knows what they're saying, so just playing the song w the word silenced is as good as saying the word.

Talking about not saying it, I've again got the song stuck in my head. :)

Suvadoo, I would not change your name. I like the old one, and have come to know you by it. Many ppl (I think Shaden, Jimmy, Jennasis) have made plays on my name... how many times have I heard "oh now that's some fuzzy logic"... Way I look at it, if that's the best response someone has, then they've conceded to the real points of a discussion.

I don't care about the puns ppl will come up w about my forum handle, and can smile silently knowing they have no clue what it really means or comes from. As I've wondered w many, including yours. :)

I have even done the 6-degrees-to-puns-on-names game in my head, and concluded that Jennasis has played on my name, DisKidds alluded to yours being like a song, which was done by the band which sounds like Jenn's name.... :D None of it bothers me.

Thoughts on MM+ being introduced to the other parks.

The number $2 billion gets thrown around a lot, and it probably true for the total cost of the system, but I think people overlook the fact that the entire My Magic+ system is more than just FastPass+.

It may be the case that internally Disney has evaluated that FP+ is underperforming for what they desired, but the rest of the system (which we as guests don't really "see") is doing exactly what they desired.

From my admittedly fallible memory, weren't aspects of the entire upgrade to allow the integration of all of the different systems in use at WDW? From hotel reservations, to ticket purchases, to dining, to the room-key, PhotoPass, etc.? Not to mention the internal systems that I don't know about.

When you further factor in the additional capabilities inherent in the MagicBands, coupled with Disney (in general) being a familiy destination vacation, what parent wouldn't eventually want the ability to be able to pull up a real-time map of the current park and see where their child is based on the last RFID sensor that detected the associated MB?

Or from the financial aspect of guests spending money, the ability to use a credit card linked through the MDE on the Magic Band? Haven't studies shown a measureable increase in spending for each step away from cash money the customer has to go through? (Least likely to purchase something if they must pull cash out of a wallet, slightly more likely to if writing a check, even more likely to purchase through use of a credit card, and truckloads of souvenirs when they are just billed to the room AND delivered there for you?)

Think about the day when the only thing required to visit Disney is the Magic Band and a finger. Through the link to your MDE account, it will have the credit/debit card you have on file for purchases; the connectivity to the hotel reservations will allow you to board DME, check-in, and enter your room; the connectivity to the dining reservation system will be your access to for ADRs; the connectivity to ticket sales will be your access to the gates (and theoretically would allow AP discounts); the connectivity to the DVC systems would theoretically allow for DVC discounts and/or other promotions. Plus the system also lets you pre-book 3 rides, for minimal waits on boarding.

Do I think that all of the behind the scenes upgrades and updates could have been done while leaving FP alone? Absolutely. But I also think that Disney wanted to tie in something that would entice / force people to change up to the MB's, and that decision was to roll FP into the system as well.

I can absolutely see where Disney would want to expand the MM+ system to the other parks, even if the FP+ has not been optimal from the guest experience.

(In the interest of full disclosure, the FP+ has not negatively impacted my touring strategy, and overall I have liked the entire system. I recognize that part of what I like is due to an appreciation for the capabilities that I see in the system, whether they are currently available or not. I am not discounting that other people view it differently and some have had severe negative impacts to their preferred vacation style from FP+).

Just my random $0.02

Correct. The applicable process patent is for "amusement and theme parks"; it was absolutely intended to apply the technology to any and every park.

Thanks Fuzzy,in my mind, being called my username with a speech impediment moved from tolerable to condescending.

I asked for it to stop, but it didn't so I felt the best thing I could do is change my name. Additionally, the only reason I told everyone is because I respect my fellow Dis fanatics. I didn't want to be regarded as deceitful. I enjoy our debates. Wouldn't the world suck if we didn't have different opinions?

So again, glad you liked my former user name but it is now dead and buried. Now can we resume the fighting?:rotfl:

I gave up on this a long time ago because for some reason people love to say that FP+ cost $2 billion. But I am glad to see that there are others who recognize that there is A LOT more to MM+ than just FP+.

I don't see the logic in saying that just because MM+ is implemented differently at Disneyland means that there is something wrong with how it's being done at WDW. There have always been a lot of differences between how the two resorts operate. For example, WDW releases park operating hours 6 months in advance and Disneyland releases them more like 4-6 weeks in advance. That doesn't mean that one is right or wrong or better or worse.

For the record, I refer to it as "MM+/FP+" when attributing any cost figures to the initiative.

I don't think there's proof either way of how successful FP+ is. When I hear the MM+ is going to DLR, I'm hoping that they omit FP+. After all they're going to use the technology on DCL.

I agree, and I don't think that what they decide to do at Disneyland is going to provide any further evidence of that.

I do think that some of the best evidence that FP+ has achieved at least one of Disney's objectives is when people announce that they used to be able to get 3 or 4 FPs in a day for a certain attraction and now they can only get one. While it is understandable that the person who got all those FPs is upset about losing them, I think Disney is happy that the extra ones are now going to someone else.

I wish you hadn't been made to feel you ad to change your name, but I understand why you did. That said, PLEASE tell me your new name is a reference to Jack the Giant Killer...I LOVE that movie (especially the Rifftrax version).

Speech impediment? Phil Collins doesn't have a speech impediment, nor do I! I don't think you do either!

Wow. Never occurred to me you have never heard the song Sussudio. I was never trying to make fun of you. I'm sorry if that's what you thought. It's just a catchy song. Really, go to YouTube. Watch it. Insert Suvadoo. If you have a laugh, come back and BE Suvadoo. We'll probably continue to disagree on almost everything, but I'll never riff on your name again! If you listen to the song and don't get a good hearted chuckle continue with the new name.

I thought it was a tribute to the main character in the two Robert Galbraith (aka JK Rowling) mystery novels.
