DD amd I were just out looking at Macy's this morning. I found Remington razor for dh reg. $99 for $29.99 and then for me the Kitchenaid 12 cup food processor reg. $250. for $53.99!! Couldn't belive it. I'm sooo excited. I only have a 1 cup and it's impossible when cooking. Then went to Aeropostle for my ds and found him nice button-up shirts for $7.99. Yay for me. Now I have Valentine's Day done.

11 Macy's stores are closing and 900+ will be out of jobs. I guess the ones closing are having major sales!

Now, I don't feel so great about the Liz Claiborne PJ's I got for $4.50 today.
I hope ours isn't on the chopping block.
But, the PJ's are really nice. On clearance, with extra off and I had a $10 promo card for buying denim last week.

Does anyone know what ones are closing?

Final clearance sales at these stores will begin within the next week (with the exception of the Hawaii location, which will not hold a final clearance sale).

the one I went to today isn't closing. So I guess I just got lucky.

The one nearest to me isn't on the list. I gues they are just making way for new merchandise.
It seems I have been able to get pretty good deals this time of year in past years at Macy's.

It's End of Season Clearance, it's always a major One Day Sale--the goal is to get rid of the winter stuff. Especially with inventory going on. The less there is to scan, the less there is to mess up on. I've audited enough of those inventories to know it's 10 times easier if the floors are bare. Another 2 weeks and the floors will be once again filled with merchandise.

And as someone's who's worked in Federated Department Stores for a decade--I would like to see how tiny those stores with 3 people actually are. 3,000 square feet is smaller than my manikin storage. And we love to joke about how when they announce 11 stores closing how everyone that works in the remaining 835 gets at least one call asking if we're worried that our jobs are on the line. :rotfl: Now if I was retiring anytime soon I would be dying--I don't want to know how much my 401K lost this week.

Not lovin' Macy's today. I looked up pannini makers on their website, found one on sale and went in and purchased it. (one nice thing, it wasn't on sale in the store, but they honor their website prices.) Got it home and there was MUSTARD on the styrofoam packing!1 I took it out and although there was no food or grease on the grill, the cord had been unwound and retied.

For some reason, my "ick factor" meter was on low, and I cannot use it, even if I clean it. So I am taking it back. I am not paying new prices for used items..:headache:

Yes, but these are 2 of the stores that are in big trouble. Macys is closing stores and Aeropostle may be going under.
