I am getting ready to book a CP package hopefully. At first, I thought I wanted Le Cellier, but we just ate there last October and a couple of weeks ago, and I thought I'd try something different on our December trip. We will also be eating at Yachtsman Steakhouse on our December trip, so again, I thought I'd try something different rather than two steakhouses. We will be splitting a meal at Chefs de France for lunch that day.

What I'm trying to decide is where to eat dinner with the CP package. I KNOW we want Japanese, so please don't try to talk me into any other country. ;) What I'm having trouble deciding is Teppan Edo or Tokyo Dining.

We have eaten at Teppan Edo and LOVED it. We really like the hibachi grill! My DH always orders the steak and chicken, and I always order scallops. We love the rice and vegetables that come with it. We also don't mind eating with others, but we usually have our kids (DS15 and DS13) with us. Our kids won't be with us on our Christmas trip though, so I was wondering if Tokyo Dining would be a better choice for us as far as the atmosphere (a little more romantic sitting at a table by ourselves). Here are my concerns: My DH does NOT eat sushi. I do NOT especially like tempura, and I doubt he would. The allears site does NOT show scallops on the menu (which I love).

Would we like the food at Tokyo Dining?

By the sound of things, between the two, I suspect your group as a whole would be happiest at Teppan Edo.

We like Tokyo dining, but it's because we love sushi -- and the sushi tends to be pretty good there. And, it can be a bit quieter than Teppan Ido (but I am no fan of Japanese hibachi cooking).

Even so, the tables at Tokyo Dining are very close together (as they are in all of the Epcot restuarants) and there are only two sections -- the forward section where you might see some of Illuminations if you are lucky and the rear section near the sushi bar. Also, people waiting for tables tend to congregate in the area near the sushi bar. So, would Tokyo dining be that much quieter and romantic? Probably not.

Frankly, there is absolutely no where in Epcot that one can dine in a relaxed, quiet and romantic atmosphere anymore (and that includes Bistro de Paris, which was an absolute zoo the last time we were there at 9 pm -- worse than Chef Mickey's, with noisy kids who would not sit still and waiters running around like mad men).

It was not always the case that relaxed, quiet and romantic dining was an impossibility in Epcot, but then the Dining Plan and Free Dining appeared. The rest is history, as they say.

Based on your food likes, I think you and your dh likely will be happier at Teppan Edo.

So looking at allears, is Tokyo Dining's filet mignon from the Japanese style grill (which includes steamed veggies and white rice) not basically fixed on a hibachi grill in the back and then brought to the table? I'm trying to figure out the difference between the meals here and the ones at Teppan Edo. If it's basically the same food, I would be fine ordering the filet mignon (scallops aren't a must). Now, I LOVE sushi, so I would like to know if it can be ordered as an app. I know my DH will be ordering a garden salad. And I think the desserts are the same. I'm still not ready to give up the idea of Tokyo Dining (we like trying new restaurants). I just want to make sure I can get food similar to the food at Teppan Edo. And if I definitely can't, I'll stick with Teppan Edo.

So can ANYONE answer the above question??? :worship:

DH & I really enjoyed Tokyo Dining, but it was definitely a lighter meal and we ate at 5 pm or so, and it was very empty. Quiet, relaxing, and with a Sopporo and a plum wine, we had as romantic a dinner as you can get in a theme park, IMHO.

I can't say if the food is similar to Teppan Edo, since I specifically went to TD b/c I wasn't interested in the hibachi experience (got enough good Japanese steakhouses at home). I really just wanted sushi.

Ok, so I'm down to 6 days to decide what CP package I want to reserve. I really need more advice, please........:worship:

Can ANYONE answer whether the filet mignon from the Japanese grill at Tokyo Dining is the same as the filet mignon from Teppan Edo's grill? I'm really interested in trying a new restaurant, but I want to make sure it's something we will like. If these meals are similar, I know we will like it.

I read on another thread a few weeks ago that they were the same.

Perhaps if you call Disney Dining or the restaurant itself they will be able to answer your question for certain.
