Hi,
I quit, too!
What can I tell you that hasn't been said by other posters? I feel your pain. A 43 year-old man, I have never been married; I once went more than nine years without a date; and I met my first girlfriend less than eight years ago to end that drought. We started dating in November 2000 and broke up 21 months later after I'd practically supported her and her family. I went on a two-year dating sabbatical or hiatus; joined e-Harmony for three months; and had a date with a woman in Baltimore who said that I reminded her of her brother. We parted and I got robbed on my way home; cancelled my e-Harmony membership that night; and prayed to God that if it be His will, either He finds me a girlfriend or lets me quit. Met my second girlfriend a little less than two months later: she and I were very physically attracted to each other but had nothing else in common, and less than thirteen months later we split up.
Convinced that I like women more than they like me, I met the only woman who ever told me, "We can change that", in Dismates last July. I was like a head-over-heels-in-love teenager when we met at Magic Kingdom last month, and came on to her way too strong, or so someone told me. She lives in Michigan, and told me that we can never be together because she cannot commit herself to a man who lives 580 miles away. Heartbroken, I've decided that because I do not drive, I cannot manage even short-distance relationships, let alone long-distance ones; to go into an indefinite sabbatical or hiatus; and that I will not date at all in 2007.
