We just got back from a 9 day trip using the DDP for the first time. I will never go again without using it. It was nice to know that our food was prepaid so I did not have to be constantly budgeting the "food money". We packed a suitcase with water, juice boxes, granola bars, pop tarts, etc. Those items satisfied the kids in the mornings and in between meals. Many of our desserts we brought with us for later in the day. We didn't have trouble finding things that the kids would eat. There was at least one choice that they liked at every place we visited. The sugar-free jello is GROSS though. My husband and I just shared our desserts at the CS meals. At the TS meals, the kids loved their choices for desserts (sundaes, worms and dirt, apple cobbler and ice cream, etc). There is alot of food, but we managed to finish most of it due to sharing with our 1 year old and getting desserts to go. We visited the following restaurants:

TS:
Le Cellier
Liberty Tree Tavern
Ohana's (our favorite)
Hollywood and Vine Character Breakfast
Whispering Canyon
Coral Reef
International Dinner and Illuminations Dessert (Grand Gatherings experience, 2 credits)

CS:
Pop Century Food Court (chicken nuggets for the kids)
Pecos Bills (sloppy joes for the kids)
Cosmic Ray's (mini corn dogs for the kids)
Flame Tree Barbeque (hot dogs for the kids)

Snacks:
Ice cream bars
Lots of fruit bowls (my kids LOVE fruit)
Chips
cereal
Cheese Fries
Yogurt Parfaits
and more but I cannot remember off hand

At all the places we ordered what we would like to eat, some were the cheapest entrees and some the most expensive. We didn't go into the plan thinking we would order the "best of the best". We just wanted to prepay for meals so it was one less thing to think about while we were there. Overall, we saved approx. 50% of our bill with little waste.

Like the title states, we LOVED the DDP and will use it on all future trips. It worked very well for our family.

I love it, love it, love it too!

I can't go again without it either! It's too good of a deal. And even better for piece of mind knowing that your food is already paid for, so you can pretty much get whatever you want!

Thanks for the positive review and I'm glad your kids had good meals too.
We love the DDP and despite all the negative comments about the kids meals, I'm sure dd will find something she likes. We'll pass on the sugar free jello though!

They ate it the first day, but then I got "mommy, I will eat everything else but do I HAVE to eat this?" :rotfl2: Couple bites of my chocolate cake and they were good to go!

The kid's menu is limited but there were items on most menus I think most kids would like (for example the sloppy joes and mini corn dogs)...and if not I figure you could get an adult double cheeseburger meal and share. One thing for sure, there is not a lack of food to go around.

One thing I forgot to mention, everywhere we went allowed us to have fries as one of the children's side items....so they either had fries and grapes or fries and applesauce, which I personally think are great options for the little ones.

Twinsmomma, could you tell me how the Hollywood and Vine Character Breakfast was? MY five year old has requested this for our upcoming August trip, and we are making ADRs later this month for it.

Thanks!

WE LOVE IT TOO!!!

Disney gave us our first DDP FREE and we've paid for it once since...would pay for it every time if we needed to!!

We love the DDP, too. We have paid for it everytime. DS plays football, so we can't go during free dining. However, it is well worth it for us. Sometimes we split entrees because I hate wasteing food. We save our receipts and total up what we would have spent on food each day, and then remember what we actually spent on the dining plan. We save soooo much. It is well worth it to anyone who eats at the table service restaurants.

My Dsis-in-law does not get the DP, but she and her son do not eat at table service restaurants. They just eat at counter service. They say table service takes too much time!

My family really enjoyed it. The characters came through a few times and really spent time with the kids. There was dancing and singing too. The food was really good; fresh fruit, all kinds of pastries (including mini muffins that were perfect for kids), every breakfast meat, biscuits and sausage gravy, eggs, quiche, grits, waffles, hashbrowns, seriously every breakfast item you can think of. If you make your ADRs for the earliest you can, you can be done and in the park before it opens, meaning you can get in line for TOT and Rocking Roller Coaster first! (if that's your kinda rides..) We also found that there were other characters out in the park first thing and the lines were really short since the park had just opened.

Since my dd (4) pretty much eats the same thing almost everyday (which includes applesauce) she won't have a problem. Loves grapes, hates french fries, etc. We're always the ones asking for another side in lieu of fries. I can't stand jello (I really don't consider it food :) ) so she only gets it if we're eating out (but I won't give her the sugar free stuff). And since she only eats the icing off of anything (takes after her mama) sharing desserts has always been our motto.
