when you probably really don't want to and think he might be stupid for going. About 30 minutes after my treadmill workout last night, while sitting at the computer) I started getting some chest pain that was not like previous muscular chest pain I had before--it wasn't intermittent and it didn't seem to be altered no matter how I moved around. I also seemed to be getting some pain that radiated down my left arm. Though I really didn't think it was likely to be serious, it was already 8:00 pm and our clinic's urgent care center closed at 8:00. So, I am stuck with the tough decision--ignore the pain, ride it out, or have DW take me to the ER. She took me to the ER even though she wasn't really feeling very well herself and probably thought I was crazy to worry. Well, fortunately it was nothing but musculoskeletal and it took three hours or so in the ER, but I feel so guilty wasting DW and the ER's time. I can never repay DW for staying there with me (and not complaining out loud about being there). She got less sleep as a result of me keeping her up at the ER, and I feel real bad about that. As the ER doc said, "she's a real trouper" and I agree. Just wanted to say thanks to DW for standing by me and for putting up with me. :)

Never ever ignore chest pain! You did the right thing in going to the ER, that is one of the things that classifies as a true "emergency" and why they are there and open 24/7!

I'm glad it wasn't anything serious!

That's right never ignore them...Congrats on having a great DW too. Isn't love grand?

Love is.... don't you love that saying? I'm sure your wife would have done it again if need be. Your health is more important than a little sleep, and I'm sure she'd agree.

Glad it's nothing serious, and you can get back to planning vacations, living life and loving your wife!!!

Glad it was nothing serious. Ive been in that same boat 1 year ago actually. They didnt find out what mine was until this past summer.

Thats ok... I know I would rather have my dh be safe and know that he was ok than to sit at home and worry. I know I wouldnt have gotten much sleep anyway if that were my dh :)

Glad it was nothing serious. NEVER ignore any kind of chest pain! My husband was 38 years old when he died from a massive heart attack. I don't care how old or young someone is, get to the ER!!

That just shows how much your DW loves you!

Last year on our Disney vacation, DH became very ill the 1st day we arrived. That night, he was feeling just awful, swallowing was difficult, he couldn't sleep. I finally dragged him out of bed (as he really didn't think it was important to go to the ER) and drove him to the ER of Celebration Hospital. He was given meds and told that he wasn't too ill yet, but always good to get meds in his system before he got worse.

He thanked me the rest of the week - it felt good to take care of him, but even better to know that he appreciated it!

I'm sure you'd do the same for Chris, Doctor P.:)

I'm glad everything went well at the ER.

That is that "for better or worse" thing. You would do the same for her! The (marriage) system works! Glad you are doing better and hope you are feeling better!

That's what makes 'couples', Mike. Glad to hear you did the smart thing, Chris also. Nice to have someone there for you. And good to hear it was not anything terrible. A similar scare here about 2 years ago. You question yourself, but then best to give in and do it.

Hope to see you both some time before close of year.

That is very sweet of you! BUT! if you aren't feeling well it is always better to be safe than sorry!..

Baby aspirin is a good thing to have on hand for chest pain. Talk to your doctor first but it is very common for our EMS crew to give a person with chest pains 2 baby aspirins before giving any nitro sprays.

Doctor P......................

Love is........... knowing you would take your DW to the ER if she felt the same way!

Good to hear you are okay!::yes::

Dave

Cinders--it's funny that you say that. The only medications I received at the hospital were 5 baby aspirin within a half hour of arrival and then some Toradol to take down the inflammation and pain a little bit. They did get an IV in me right away, but they never actually hooked it up or injected anything but the Toradol.

Not to take away from your DW's help, but OMG, don't ever feel guilty about complaining of chest pains-and "pain radiating down your arm"!!! That is exactly what ER's are for. And only 3 hours! you got off easy.. We spent all night-11-6:30 to get help for DH about a month ago. Diagnosis:Kidney stones..And while he slept waiting and waiting -with help from pain killers- I sat in the most uncomfortable chair ever made. But it doesn't matter, you do what you have to do to make sure the one you love is always with you...I'm sure that's what your DW thought. And I was thankful to spend the entire night with him in the ER, and walk out with him the next morning...

Don't feel bad about "wasting" the ER's time, either. One of DH's nurses said that people come in there with toothaches!!!

First, Mike, I am so glad it was nothing serious! Secondly, I wouldn't expect anything else coming from Chris :)
