Love Bugs

Not sure where to put this, but since the seemed to only be at the resort i will post here. I never heard of these before until we went on vacation last year. They where everywhere, couldn't lay out on the chairs by the pool,they crawled in under our door into our room and in my DGF hair it was crazy ! We are goign back in September same time we went last year, will it be this bad again ? i haven't read about it on the boards so maybe its just normal ?

Yup, they are bad. We actually quit going at that time of year because of it. Some years seem to be worse, but every year they are bad.

Yep, it's normal.. For those who normally come to Disney in September are probably used to those aggravating bugs. I don't find them cute at all. And they are not scared of people. They will land on you and will not move until you shoo them away.

We might have to plan a different time for next year. They where truly annoying after the first day.
A lady staying at the resort told us that they where never this bad that some escaped from a university and off sprung out of control. Not sure how true that story is but that's what we where told.

I've lived in Florida 12 yrs and live about 2hrs S. of Disney. We get the love bugs in May and Sept. Some years are worse than others. Not good ever!!!

I have been there in May, June, July, Sept & even Oct & they were everywhere. I wouldn't let that stop me from going when I want to go. Just my two cents

It would never stop us trust me !!! I wont lie even though they are annoying, it helps me out bc i hate laying in the sun. My DGF loves it though butttttttttttttttt since the bugs are out we cant, so its kinda a win for me !

I understand where you are coming from Count your blessings I am not a fan of sun bathing either so my DH wins lol I am not sure if bug spray would help or not

LOL.. Going to have to look into the bug spray. Not sure if it would have any effect on the hundreds flying around but hey its worth a shot !

LOL really? could be different resorts ? we where there between September 14-22 and we saw them everyday at the resort !

We were at AKL 6-20 Sept 08 - they were every where and really annoyed me at the pool. In 2010 3-17 Sept they were about but not too bad. Sep 2011 3-17th I hardly saw any at all and was certainly not annoyed by them. So it really does vary from year to year.

Ugh, I hate those things! We live in Ft Myers, FL and they haven't been that bad down here... yet. As other's have said- they vary from year to year. Those things stink too, especially when there are thousands of them dead on the front of your car. Gross! Anyway, despite the Love Bugs, I hope you're having a great time!

Rats! I forgot about the love bugs. We went in September once and they were terrible. I think it was the 3rd week. We are thinking of going Oct 12, 2013. Please tell me they are all gone by then.

Nope, bug spray is useless against love bugs.

We were at Saratoga springs resort from 18th for two weeks

We are going Sept. 1st to the 8th. I sure hope this wont be an issue. Is is just at the pools or in the parks as well?
