I have been reading a lot about these "love bugs" in WDW and I googled it - YUCK! Those things are NOT tiny!!! Should I slather on the bug repellant? Any tips are certainly helpful!!!

I posted a pic of them on another love bug thread. I don't think there is a reason to put on bug repellant (and am not sure if it would even work), but I did find that the darker the clothing you wore, the better chance they would stay away (or at least not land on you).

Every time I saw them they were either sitting on a white object (bench, table) or on a person wearing white clothing or with very very (almost platinum) blonde hair.

Don't wear clothes with fabric they will get snagged on, like lace. I wore a lacy skirt yesterday, and they caught right in the lace - yech... It's best to wear smooth fabrics, so you can brush them right off.

Cheers!

I don't think but repellant would help you! They are everywhere on everything and everyone. I was constantly swatting them. They are very annoying but try your best to not let them bother you!

They don't bite or sting and they don't buzz or anything like that. They just fly around. I haven't seen them around here the past few days, so maybe they are getting better down in Florida, too. :)

I don't see them as much here in the past couple of days - the are about the size of a lightening bug - (we DON"T have them here!)

I really doubt that putting on bug repellant will help you any. As others have said, the love bugs are EVERYWHERE. They were at every resort we visited, every theme park, and every bus stop. They do not sting, bite, or really bother anyone, but they seem to just randomly fly around and land on whatever they land on. They did seem worse at Animal Kingdom and MGM than at Magic Kingdom or Epcot... actually we hardly saw any at Magic Kingdom. At MGM there were thousands of them on the Disney-MGM archway. CM's were trying to sweep them off the walls and ground, but they were fighting a loosing battle. All of this said, they really didn't affect our trip at all... just something that we quickly learned to deal with.

They are everywhere and stick to you (no biting or stinging). Bug spray doesn't help at all. I took a picture of them and it's in my album Sept 26 AK. Have fun!

They're obnoxious but on their way out... by the end of our trip, we saw less and less of them. They come out in Sept so I would think in the next couple of weeks that they will be gone.

They are annoying but unavoidable. Repellant won't do any good, you just swat them away.

Bug sprays don't work and they tend to migrate towards light cloths and roadways. They are annoying but don't seem to hurt anything unless you accidentally swallow one by not paying attention.

Just try to avoid them on the highway, those VW's can be testy.

Oh for goodness sakes people! Don't you know these are actually characters? A movie was made about them in the 60's. It's called Herbie The Love Bug! :teeth:

the love bugs were the least favorite part of our trip!!! we saw them everywhere and would just swat them away :thumbsup2

You should see my car. When driving, they get stuck all over the car and they are like glue. Even hard scrubbing does not remove them completely. Yuck.
