We saw maybe a couple of pairs of lovebugs over Labor Day weekend. We saw more in south Georgia than at Disney World.

You do realize they are harmless, right? They just fly around, mate and die. No need to be afraid of them.

We've been September travelers for the past 4 years. I only recall one of those trips having a real noticeable Love Bug presence. DH gave up swatting them off himself about 2 days into the trip. They are nothing to worry about.

They may not be anything to be afraid of, but they make a HUGE mess on the front of my Yukon!!! And when you're slathered in sunscreen, they STICK! Blech!! Not to mention when you walk into a cloud of them while you're walking and talking...double blech!!!!

They are harmless but DISGUSTING.:scared1:. Especially if you have a bug phobia (I do). We were there a couple of years ago in September and they were horrible, zillions of them all over the place. We cut our trip short 3 days they were so bad.

I don't think they have ever been as been since then and I'm hoping they won't be this year.

They are not harmful to people, but love bugs are harmful to the paint on your car. So, the cars needs ot be washed when covered in love bug bodies!:(

OMG, I grew up with these things. They are NOTHING. Even if you have a bug phobia - they're hardly even bugs, lol. They do their thing, they don't pay any attention to folks, they don't try to land on you or bite you or follow you. They just fly and mate. Period. They don't bite you like mosquitoes or fly into your eye like gnats. They are such a non-issue. Like others have said, you want to wash your car, but that's about all you have to consider....

I'm on the Alabama gulf coast and they first appeared here in mid August. I'm still seeing a few, but I think we're past the peak here. They were a little early for us. We usually start seeing them at the end of August and the end of May.

I'm outside of Jacksonville, and my house and car are covered with those things.

The FedEx guy dropped a package off yesterday. He walked from the end of my driveway to the front door, put down the package and rang the bell. It takes less than a minute. It took me about 15 seconds to open the door--I was in the laundry room, which is right next to the front door. In that small amount of time, the package had maybe 20 mated love bugs rolling aroung on it. :lmao: I even found a pair stuck to the tape on the package.

They are just annoying--especially when I'm outside working in the yard and they like to swarm around my head..

I've seen one or two per day now for the past week. So they are here, but not heavy yet. I would expect them to start getting heavier by the end of next week.

There's a thread on the theme parks board started by a local who has started seeing them. Mid-September is usually the height of it.

Love bugs swarmed us in Merritt island today. That's close to the cruise ship area

A few years back when I was there in September and they were so bad, they were all over people. Crawling on your clothes, that's what freaked me out. Couldn't sit at the pool cause the chairs were covered in them, benches were covered in them. It was really bad.
I've been there other years where you saw a few here and there and that didn't bother me, just that one unforgettable September.

We live about 55 miles northwest of WDW. Found several lovebugs on my lanai today. More were reported in the nearby neighborhoods.

Don't wear white; lovebugs are attracted to it.

Reminds me of my mother-in-law. Once something happens, it's always going to happen. Unfortunately, the love bugs haven't been as prevalent as other years. And I say unfortunately because I happen to love the love bugs. They have their purpose in life and they do it well.

Drove down Friday and the front bumper and windshield covered. Had to go to the Hess Express on property to use their touchless car wash (which by the way worked fabulously - paid extra for the bells and whistles and it got most off). However, happy to say that we haven't seen a single one since arriving. Woot woot!
