For Pete's sake, there is no "separation of Classes" on this ship. There is an area reserved for those passengers choosing to pay an extraordinary fare for the rooms. They still eat in the same dining rooms, they still clear customs the same as everyone else. What they get, for paying a lot more money is a bigger room, a nice lounge area, some early check in perks, which by the way they can NOT use unless they are paid in full at 120 days out.
When Titanic sailed as well as MANY other cruise ships, there was separation in ALL areas. Steerage passengers could not even access higher floors. 1st class had their own dining room, as did all classes. All
DCL has done is given those persons who wish to pay a lot more the opportunity to enjoy a few little extras. I am quite pleased there is a gate that allows those passengers privacy in that area. The gates lock going in, but not coming out, In the event of an emergency, the Concierge passengers will be going to their muster stations the same all the rest of the passengers, they get no priority boarding there.
Some people are making entirely too much of this. While everyone has an opinion, remember that DCL and their ship designers are the only ones whose opinion matters in this area. If the passengers booking these rooms feel strongly enough that all areas should be open and accessible to all passengers, and they let DCL know often enough, I imagine there could be changes considered, However, if anyone does a poll of all concierge passengers today, what do you think they will say? Sure, leave the gets ope and allow anyone to come up to the sun deck and use the facilities. Free extra food and drink, yeah, we don't mind if everyone can come and take what they want.
FTR, I have never been in a concierge room on any ship or in a hotel Maybe someday. For now, I am happy that others can enjoy it.
