I've never read anything about this but am really curious...
We took the 3-day Wonder in Jan. One complaint I had was that there was NO quiet place on the ship except our stateroom. We wanted to quietly watch the ocean speed by one night....SPEAKERS/ The Golden Mickeys were so loud at one point, it was downright uncomfortable. We went to family disco night and I felt like I was in a bar from the 80's. I kept moving my 6 year old away from the speakers because I wanted her to have some hearing left after our vacation (seriously...I'm an audiologist). I really think the volume is why our daughter didn't really press to go to the children's club. Everything is ...jump around, scream, be EXCITED. The quiet time really didn't come around until movie time. I like Disney but I started calling our cruise...Disney Overboard!

I never had a complaint at all but that the cruise had to come to an end. The noise? No way, that's part of the fun, the atmosphere that everyone is having fun. We did have plenty of quiet time on deck though, maybe we tuned things out, but I found the entire trip very relaxing. I am sure being an audiologist you noticed things I did not. As for being hesitant to do the kids club, maybe your child wanted to be with you and not have to be with strangers, after all its a family vacation. I know my kids would not want to be sent to a kids club, though I have heard it is wonderful, unless they chose to go. Could be me, but our family vacations are just that...family time. Of course, mine are too old to do them anyway now, but we love the DCL and would go again in a hearbeat!

Yes it can get a little loud on the ship. The one and only time we did sailaway at the main stage I thought it was way too loud. Before this we did sailaway up at the front of the ship and on our last cruise did it from our veranda.

I think there are lots of quiet places on the ship however.

The deck chairs on deck 4 are a great place to read or watch the sea go by.

I'm looking forward to trying out quiet cove when we next sail.

Of course nothing beats our veranda for piece and quiet!

Totally agree but I'm one of those people who likes to relax on vacation and noise is not a relaxing thing to me. I do love to see the shows and watch the kids interact with characters, etc. We attended the sailaway party on Deck 10 and that was the one and only "big" event we attended. My kids are also auditory sensitive! We found tons to do and had a great time - we just avoided the really "loud" activiities. When I needed the quiet, I went to my verandah. ANd I spent A LOT of time there. DH also found the Deck 4 chairs to be quiet. ANd you can also try the secret Deck 7!

Don't forget about the "Secret Decks"! They're usually very quiet. In fact, generally the only things you can hear there are the waves and the breeze.

At the end of a cruise, DCL gives you an evaluation form to complete and drop off before you leave the ship. We had a great cruise, great vacation, great service... The only thing I mentioned was that the shows were WAY too loud... They should be able to adjust the sound from their booth! They can see how many people are in the theatres and adjust the levels. I had to cover my ears a few times it was so loud!

We didn't go to the clubs, but I can imagine how loud they are.

Late nights on the upper decks always were quiet. Deck 7 Aft (shhhhh...don't tell anyone) is almost always quiet. Deck 4 is a great option. We even have gone far forward or far aft during a party at the Goofy pool and it was pretty quiet. Oh...one last...verandah (if you have one). That's truly the nicest place to sit quietly and enjoy the sea, air, ...

The parties do get loud but I think you can find a way to not be involved it too much noise.

There were many times that I'd go sit in one of the windows in some the halls and those were quiet areas (like around where the adult night areas are). I agree with the quiet areas on Deck 4 as well as loved the ME time on Deck 7 Aft ;) If I needed to escape my family and needed some me time - that's where I'd go.
