Loud Bass in Cars

That's just it. I DO close my windows and turn up my own music, and it still shakes my dashboard.

Hey, Dan, I'm just curious - you've mentioned fog lights being a pet peeve of yours before. I thought fog lights were the ones at the bottom of the car aimed down and out so you didn't have to turn them off like brights. Are you talking about people driving with their brights on?

I totally agree about the bass. I was driving today and stopped at a light next to a car blaring music and a guy holding his cigarette out the window. They saw me roll up my window and smirked at me.

Hey Chad I just sold my 2000F4 race bike 118 HP at the rear wheel so much fun. I have given up riding on the street though to many stupid people in cages.

Ah, thats no good, but its true about the stupid people. They are increasing every year. I blame the decreasing price of cellphones and increasing amount of moms with minivans/SUVs/ect. Go buy you a cheap track bike or something. I don't think I could ever give this up, its such a rush and freedom rolled up into one sleak 4cylinder package

When your 16-18ish, you really care less about the people around you and how they feel, ;)

I always did, I guess it depends on how you are raised and your respect for others. This is a blanket statement that doesn't reflect all kids that age.

Loud music in passing cars doesn't bother me much, because you only hear it for a few seconds then the car is gone.

What DOES bother me is the loud music from the "neighbors" when we're camping!! If I can understand the lyrics when I'm at MY campsite, then it's TOO LOUD!! Or worse, when the culprit is several campsites away and I can still hear it, and especially when it's that "rap crap" with vulgar lyrics!!

We used to enjoy camping at state parks, but they don't control the noise level like private campgrounds do so we tend to camp in privately owned campgrounds more now, at least the owners patrol the campground more often and crack down on people with loud, annoying music.

Loud thumping bass has been a pet peeve for DH and me for a long time...especially when we are in front or beside it while we are stopped in traffic. DH says he's going to invent something like a remote control that will work like this: when you aim it at the "offending vehicle" it will cause the speakers to emit a loud screeching noise instead! He says he would call it the "boom buster!" ;)

Chad I will be out of riding for atleast a year or so untill my knee heals I am having surgury on it next month. Torn Cartalidge and Torn MCL is what I am told is wrong. We also just sold the kids dirt bike we didn't use it at all well maybe once or twice but that was it. We are buying a pair of 600RR hopefully next summer for my wife and I she rides to. I will have mine as dual purpose street and race that way I can go for rides with her.

Very cool. Hopefully in my future, when I am married, my wife will be up to doing this with me as well. ::yes::

Dan, that is Bill's #1 pet peeve with drivers-the extra headlights that are on for no reason at all. It really, really gets under his skin!
As for the "thumping" cars, two of my sons have cars that thump. They've been told if they get a ticket for noise, the systems go. They also know that the radio gets turned down as they get nearer the neighborhood and they do it.

No disykat, not the lights which the manufacturer designates as 'the brights'. Most of these clowns do not drive with those on, but rather with either the after-market add-ons, or now, popular enough, and profitable enough, to be added on by the manufacturers. The lights are designated usually as fog, driving, highway, auxilliary, or something of that nomenclature and most often are mounted below the regular and high beam lights. They are designed with a diffused lighting pattern, to be used in fog conditions, and NOT in conjunction with the regular lights. But also, not with oncoming traffic, certainly, in the city, without fog. The lights are oftentimes actually brighter than the bright lights, as they are designed to used by themselves. When used with the regular lights, they are blinding to oncoming drivers.

IL law says 2 headlights, and brights dimmed within 500 feet of oncoming driver. Most states are similar. These clowns claim they are not their brights so they don't have to be dimmed, that ME attitude. They like to be able to say, 'I have my fog lights on, and I am cool.' Some day I swear I will install Candela laser beams on my car to reciprocate.

I'm your basic 36 year old white fluffy graying lesbian and I love to blast my music sometimes. Sometimes it's country, sometimes it's hip-hop, and when the mood stikes me, it's contemporary Christian music that is being blasted. I love the thump of the bass. I don't do it with my windows down and I turn it down when I enter a residental area, but otherwise, I feel free to thump. Sometimes, you just have to really let the music be loud and free. JMHO Maggie

Ya chad it hurts like H E double hockeysticks but I am dealing with it and the operation will be a good thing especially if it fixes it.

Let's see..... my last setup in my 1993 explorer was 3 Kicker 18" solo X's with 12 VX2200D planet audio 2,250 watt amps running off of *cough*18 *cough* yellow top optima batteries... Blew out the windshield and 3 back windows when I turned it up to 25 on my cd player.

i dunno what the point is..but my bro and all my friends love the loud bass.....gives me a headache!

...i thought this thread was gonna be about fishin'.....

;)

I'm with you Dan on the fog lights...do these people think that those lights are really impressing anyone?

Another thing that cracks me up is the people (usually driving big, old cadillacs) who don't turn their headlights off when they park. They WANT someone to tell them they left their headlights on so they can smugly say "they'll turn off automatically".

HOW HARD IS IT TO REACH WAAAAYYYY UP THERE TO THE DASH BOARD AND TURN THE STUPID LIGHTS OFF!!! ARE YOU THAT LAZY?!

i know these were origanally designed to help you see to get your keys in your door at night....not to attract attention to yourself.
