We rented a GC for the day and just finished going thru all the sites for a quick look and counted the empty sites between around 9:30 and 11AM. For the cabins we counted those w/o a car or did look occupied so the count could be off a little there. As of the morning of Xmas eve there were 80+ CG sites and 195 of 406 cabins vacant. The only full loops were the 100, 200, 400, 700 and 1300 with one site vacant in the 1800, 500, and 600 loops. We didn't count the number of sites in each loop, but the 1900 has 19 vacant followed by the 1400 loop with 13 and the 800 with 11.

We've also visited all the resorts except, WL, GF, CR, PO, OKW, SS all the parking lots are fairly empty except for All Star and Pop Century.

No wonder Disney is grinching out on the Xmas decorations. So Far Coronado Springs followed by the Beach Club are the best decorated.

It used to be the most crowded time of the year. I wonder what park attendance looks like

As for parking lots at resorts though, a LOT of people fly in, so that may not be the best way to judge that. Even friends from here in NOLA are flying into Orlando. I would be very interested to see the park attendance this year compared to years past.

Thanks for the update Larry. Just out of curiosity, I am going to try to book a site and see what happens.

Online booking is showing the only available campsites are partials for $95 a nite after taxes. I tried one night and one week. Hmmm, wonder why.

They may be reserved for arrivals today, tomorrow or the weekend.

Maybe they have finally raised their prices too high for making camping the affordable option it used to be. The Fort used to be the cheapest resort now they cost more than the values. :confused3

Although I do appreciate the improvements they are making to the place recently, there were YEARS that went by with continuous annual price increases where very little was done except for maintenance. Did they bank some of the profits for further investment or did they use it for other resort investments?

There is still a lot of uncertainty in the economy. It sure is having an impact on our decisions. We are choosing to stay home more and save for a rainy day more than ever. ITS BORING but we feel its necessary. :scared1:

We noticed that too when we were out looping. I was really surprised at the amount of empty sites I always thought that this place would be packed. My thought is that maybe people are waiting til after x-mas to come??

hope my site is ready. We requested 800 so hope there are some empty sites there. maybe they are holding one there for me. we will be there on sunday morning.

hey can one of you guys tell me if 805 is vacant. that is the one i like. i requested it again a few days ago.

I KNEW there would be empty sites this year. Call it a hunch! Too many people (myself included) posted that they were canceling their ressies this December.

If I could have spared the time and especially, the money, I would soooooo be there right now.

At 11.5% REPORTED unemployment in Fl., there are many who just can't justify a road trip to FW or WDW in general and I am sure that goes for the rest of the country.

Hello Everyone. I just wanted to give an update on this thread. Loops 600, 700, 800 & 900 were booked solid last night while we were looping. I think the best time to check empty sights would be at night since most people leave in the morning and arrivals don't check in until the afternoon. There were a ton of empty sights in the 2000 loops last night.

We'll be taking one of those Premium spots in a couple hours Whoo Hoo..

My cabin is empty. We just left to head back to Illinois. I am depressed to say goodbye to the fort. It was our first trip to Disney. It won't be the last.
