Lots of strange POR questions...

We are staying at POR in March (I can't wait!). We have only stayed at the CR (through SOG--we aren't resort snobs!) and I have a few questions about the differences between the mod and the deluxe.

We will be arriving around noon, by town car. We will have made a grocery stop and I have requested refridgerator.

If our room is not ready, is there somewhere I can store our milk and other cold items until check it?

How big is the fridge? are they the small "square" style or the larger "retangle" style? Would I be better off buying two half gallons of milk so that they fit?

I wanted to pick up drinks and soda at our grocery stop but my husband and children insist the entire vacation will be ruined if we do not have refillable mugs. POR looks huge, if we are in the back somewhere how far of a trek is it to the food court?

In the food court at the CR I had the use of a microwave and toaster. Will I find these at POR?

At the end of our last CR visit we ran out of butter (my son cannot live without a bagel every morning) and I "borrowed" one butter thingy from the CR foodcourt. Will I find something similar at POR or should I just buy extra butter?

I had a couple of more questions, but can't think of them right now!

I am not sure what facilities there are for keeping your cold stuff cold until your room is ready. But I can tell you about the fridge you'll be getting. It's one of the small cube types. I would suggest 2 smaller containers of milk. There are toaster/micro at the food court. We stayed in one of the farthest Bayou bldgs and it was about a 6 minute walk to the food court. If you have kids and they'll be drinking a lot of soda, go with the mugs. And if I remember correctly, you can grab some butter pat containers at the food court. Now, it's been about 3 years since we stayed there so some of my info could have changed. But, we loved POR a lot. It's a beautiful resort.

goofy4tink is right on. We were there recently and will be there in late feb/early march. Do you need the refrig? Why don't you get a cheap cooler during your store visit and keep ice in it. There are several free ice machines throughout each section of the resort. You will have plenty of room for it. I think that it would save you some cash! Just a thought. See ya there!

Thanks for reminding me!!! When we were at the Polynesian in August (which my dd felt was much less magical than POR!!!), we took a collapsable cooler with us. It folded up and fit in our luggage. We simpley unfolded it and filled the removable heavy plastic liner with ice every night. It worked wonderfully. I found it at BJ's last spring. My dh laughed at me when he saw it, but he's not laughing any more. I ordered all my bottled water on-line and had it delivered to the Polynesian on our arrival day. Also some juice boxes. Saved a ton of money. BTW...the cooler measured about 12'' high x around 16'' long x 12'' deep. Real good size.

Just one other consideration - POR has a very nice store that I think has a good selection of staple items. I believe you can pick up your milk and other items right there.

Right on goofy4tink. I take it one step further and use two of them for luggage!! ::yes::

We've purchased the mugs on two different trips. The first time buying them was a novelty. But on the second it was a waste of money for us. We didn't actually eat all that often in the food court and I was the only one who didn't mind walking from the back of POR (Lodge 25) to the food court for drinks. Dr. Pepper is the drink of choice for the rest of my family so they ended up using the DP that we had brought with us instead since its not sold there.

POR is a lovely resort! I enjoyed walking through it at all times of the day.

No Dr. Pepper at the food court. I am cancelling my trip. I am addicted to Dr. Pepper. What is a girl to do?? I might have to pick some up from the store before arriving disney...

Hi!
Thanks everybody for all the great POR info. Does anyone know what size the room coffee makers are? Also, I'm thinking of using our collapsible cooler as a carry-on. That way it will be handy for the grocery stop. I won't have to get into the luggage. I can pack it with staples from home (poptarts, instant oatmeal, cereal, paper bowls, spoons etc). That will make for a short grocery stop...just the perishables, beverages and a few impulse buys. We could dump the staples into bags, put the perishables in the cooler and put the grocery store in our rental car's rearview mirror! Grocery shopping is not a highlight of my vacation plans!!

My kids won't drink soda--ya, strange, I know. They stick with lemonaid, fruit punch, hot chocolate and milk.
