Lost Walet--returned!

One of the biggest downers of our trip (we returned to 10th) was my husband losing his walet at Animal Kingdom early in the week. We were pretty sure it fell out of his pocket (new pants, with funny pockets..)

Anyway, we kept checking on it throughout the rest of our trip with no result. Getting on the airplane was a little bit of a hassle, but nothing huge. He canceled his credit cards when we got home, and wrote off the 200 bucks as a loss.

Not 2 hours later, we got a call from Disney, and they had found his wallet. It came in the mail this morning. Apparently someone had picked it up, but not turned it in. They were staying at one of the All Stars (sports, I think) and had left in their room upon checkout. All of the cash was gone, as was DH's monorail drivers license ( so funny :) ) but the cards, and his real drivers license was still there, so that's a huge hassle he doesn't have to deal with.

I'm just happy they found it, and tracked us down to mail it!

I am glad you got it back! You must be so relieved! Hope you were still able to enjoy your vacation; though I know I would have been stressing!

I can't believe (okay maybe I can) the person that found it just left it in the hotel room like that. It's bad enough that they took the cash and the monorail drivers license! Why not just turn it in? Guess they didn't think that it could ever be traced back to them. I am certain they would say the money was already gone; but still!

I'm glad your DH got his wallet back...but what puzzles me...why would they leave it in a room they checked out of...it could easily be traced back to whoever occupied that room. Sorry about the money and monorail DL missing.

Glad you got the "important" items back...except for the monorail DL! ;)

Glad you got it back.

The person who left it in the room MAY have found it after someone else took the money - and the monorail license :confused3 and just forgotten to turn it in. That sounds like something my family would do! But anyway - it's not nearly as bad as it could have been!

Great News! Even if the money was gone. I find it very odd myself that they would just leave it in the room. :confused3 It just doesn't make sense. If I found something like that I would immediately take it to the front dest of any Disney resort! :flower:

That's fantastic! I wish that someone would send us the digital camera that I left on the the train when we got off at the Amtrak Kissimme station. :(

I'm glad it was returned. If you haven't already done so, even though the cards were returned, please report them as compromised/lost/stolen. It is possible that while the physical cards are there, someone might have copied down the numbers.

I'm sorry that the money was gone, $200 is a lot to lose for almost everyone I know...

I'm glad that your DH got his wallet back but how sad that the money was gone. When we were at MK last summer my dd spotted a wallet lying on the ground. We were sitting at the tables across from the Plaza while DH had gone to the Main Street Bake SHop for us. We never even looked inside it just took it right over to a group of CMs (that we're with a group of men in business suits). All I could think of us what what an awful feeling it would be when the person who lost the wallet discovered it was missing and how happy he would be when he got to lost and found and discovered we had turned it in.

If I found a wallet with cash in it, I think I'd turn it in at Guest Services rather than any random CM. I would also ask for a receipt that listed all the contents of the wallet, including cash and Monorail Driver's License. I think I'd also send a copy of the receipt directly to the owner myself. (Assuming there was a license with an address on it in it.)
