LOST SEASON 3 **Official** Discussion/Speculation Thread (No Spoilers)

My thing is would a one hit wonder band be considered rock stars the way Naomi implied? That was just a weird exchange to me and is sticking in my head. not sure why

A one-hit wonder could loosly be considered a rock star, but you could also be onto something...anything's possible.

There's another thing that I thought of after seeing the answers show on Thursday. They said that the polar bears were there as Dharma experiments and escaped when Dharma was brought down. But, weren't the bear cages on the other island where Sawyer and Kate were locked up? How did the bears get to the Lost island? And could polar bears survive that long in the jungle? I also wonder why Dharma chose polar bears and what the experiments were. And could the fact that they were polar bears have anything to do with Penny setting up the listening station where the two Portuguese guys were in the arctic (or what looked like the arctic)? I guess I'm just not convinced that there's more to the polar bears...or maybe it was just meant to be an unusual choice and that's all there is to it.

Yeah polar Bears are weird on a tropical Island. Gotta be something to that too. Also I remember in season one when everyone was afraid of the monster or whatever right after the crash they showed trees moving and stuff but then the smoke monster well acted like smoke after that we never see that same type thing again. If the island is a box that shows what you think I wonder if that 1st monster was a manistifation of all the passengers thoughts.....:confused3 I could be really overthinking this too. I still say this is gonna be solved with something simple based on Occams Razor..."All things being equal, the simplest solution tends to be the best one"

If Like Naomi said they found the plane and they were all dead, then how did Micheal and Walt explain their reappearance into the real world?:confused3
They did go home right? popcorn::

Even if they made it anywhere Micheal would keep his mouth shut if he was told/threatened/paid off. He does not seem the hero type to me. I think he is still around. Desmond could not get anywhere in a yacht.

I enjoyed tonight's episode. I was wondering what ever happened to the French woman. Finally Rose and her husband(forget his name, sorry)! First time I recall seeing them this season. I do hope that Charlie doesn't die...I think he would be sorely missed. His leaving the ring in the babies cradle..very touching. I can't believe it..but next week for the season finale I will be in Disney World...at the WL! :happytv:

Bernard - sorry if anyone else has already answered.

I just love them!

Did anyone else notice when Charlie was talking to the Parachute lady and she told him about him being a rock star and them having a big memorial and a new album he had no clue about the new album....does this hint at some sort of time travel?

I can see that I guess. My actual point is he didnt even know or didnt seem to know he was a rock star. From what we have seen so far he isnt right or did I miss it in another season. I remember they were struggling with drugs last season he and his brother. I know last night they hinted at it but never shown or perhaps they made him a star after his death....If I am just Lost and confused set me straight.

I think Charlie looked the way he did because she was saying the stuff about them thinking he was dead and that he isn't really. In his mind he already knew from his talk with Desmond that he had to die to save Claire and the baby, so he knew his death would soon be a reality.

I agree, she escaped Iraq during/after the 1st gulf war when Sayid was in the Republican Guard. So that is what? 91? She went to England (97? Sayid lost contact with her 7 years before the crash?) and then was in the US by 2004 when the plane crashed.

In reality, not that much movement for 10+ years.

I feel that through the show the producers want us to think of DriveShaft as a band similar to Oasis. Charlie singing "Wonderwall" just confirms that to me. Fighting brothers. Drugs. 1 world wide mega hit in the w/a few minor hits but more popular in the UK. Then a complete flame out.

I thought last night episode was sad but I've always sorta like screwed-up Charlie.

I think there is some kind of time differential (think Brigadoon). But no real time travel. The producers have always said that Lost lies in the realm of pseudo-science not pure science fiction.

By the time a band finally does get a song on the radio they could have released 8 or more albums. You never know.

Anyone else notice that the woman that Charlie saved from being mugged in the alley was Nadia?

Now how she was in Iraq, England and California is the real mystery. She was Sayid's girlfriend in Iraq, Locke's house inspector in California, and now a pedestrian in England. :confused3

WOW!! I wish I noticed this kind of stuff!

ooooh!!! Now I'm thinking, is this the only time we haven't seen the visions? You might really be on to something!

Interesting point!

I started watching Season 1 again with my DBF and caught a little tidbit that might clear up the Charlie/Best of debate. When Locke was befriending Charlie and getting him off heroin, he said he (Locke) was a fan of Drive Shaft and had both of their albums, although he thought their self-titled debut abum was a better effort than their second album, Oil Can. And when Charlie was talking to his brother in Sydney, he acted as if the rest of the band was still together but they could only get a tour if the brother came back, so they might have written some new songs then as well.

Personally, I thought the reason he looked funny was because when he first landed on the island, being a rock star was his image of himself. He kept telling everyone, "I'm the bassist of Drive Shaft." Now he sees himself differently. So it was ironic that he had finally achieved recognition.

Good catch about the second album. I never thought of checking before now, but there's more about Driveshaft here: http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Drive_shaft

Good insight about his finally getting some recognition too. I like that.

I agree that he sees himself differently now. ::yes::

I remember his line in the first season: "I'm a bloody rock god!" :rotfl:  :lmao: :happytv:

I know that the producers have dismissed the purgatory idea (many times) and after tomorrow night I think we can really let that one go, but like a few others that have died, Charlie has seemed to come to terms with himself. He probably can die now.

...Charlie has seemed to come to terms with himself. He probably can die now.

Exactly. He finally became what he believed himself to be. Not under the circumstances he'd hoped, but he became a star.

Now he sees himself as Claire's hero. I hope he doesn't have to die for that to happen, but maybe he now has the courage to truly BE her hero.

I don't see this. :confused3 We were told to understand the Michael and Walt did leave the island safely.

polar bears can swim.

survival in the jungle though.... :confused3

Polar Bears are considered marine mammals, therefore they spend the majority of their time in the H2O and can swim. I am wondering if they were doing experiments on the bears to genetically engineer/adapt them to warmer climates. It always bothered me that they were in cages with no pools. As a marine mammalogist I am probably looking to much into it.
