LOST - Season 2 (No spoilers)

Wow! Great episode! The opening scene really had me fooled with all of the 80s equipment. I thought it might have been a flashback, I never would have thought that it was the inside of the hatch.

I had a feeling that as soon as I saw Desmond in Jack's flashback, he would be the guy in the hatch. I think it was the line "I'll see you in another lifetime brother." that did it (I can't remember if it was Jack or Desmond that said it). I have to wonder what kind trip around the world Desmond was training for since he ended up in a bunker on a deserted island.

I thought it would have been more of a cliffhanger if they didn't show Desmond in the flashback this week and just had Jack recognize him. They could have saved that for next week

The scene with Walt and Shannon was really creepy. Did anyone catch what he was saying? I don't have closed captioning and I can't read lips

Jack in the flashbacks looked like he did when he was on Party of Five! I was a little annoyed with the flashback though because I really just wanted to see more of the hatch or something about Jin, Sawyer and Michael.

I just sat down to brush one of the dog's for the groomer and started watching last night's ep on tape. I paused it to see if I could read the labels on the medicine bottles in the opening.

So that's what it was I wasn't fast enough to catch it and I didn't have the episode taped. One thing DBF noticed was when Jack went down into the bunker, there was a painting on the wall and one of the numbers was 108. If you add up "the numbers" 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42 you'll get 108.

I am confused about the female patient and what happened. Her last name was Rutherford and she had a fiance?? If so, how could that be Shannon's mother? Because...wouldn't she take her fiances last name and then Shannon would have the finace (her dad's) last name? But then again I don't know if they implied that the fiance left or not.

As far as the guy who was in the crash, I thought Jack just had to choose which one he would operate on....who was the guy? Just someone random?

I'm going to have to rewatch the episode because I am confused.

Love the show though! The characters just get confusing.

The female patient wasn't named Rutherford. The driver of the SUV, who was brought into the ER right after her, was named Rutherford. Since Shannon's last name is Rutherford, and nothing on this show is a coincidence, speculation is that the driver was Shannon's father.

The female patient, Sara, was Jack's fiance, seen in a previous flashback. I assume they married but something happened, because Jack told the brunette at the airport before leaving Sydney (Ana-Lucia) that he was once married but no longer.

It's a good thing this show is on now and not 15 years ago when there was no internet, or it would have died a quick death. All the various web sites make it much easier to keep track of who's who.

Does anyone else not like the Michelle Rodriguz (sp) character? My husband and I didn't like her from the second we saw her last season... Don't really know why, we just don't for some reason. Maybe it's cuz she's interfering with Kate's man Really, I just don't think I liked her forwardness or something...

When was Danielle stranded? When was Jack's wedding? IIRC Sara's surgery was 2 years prior to the wedding, so that was when he met Desmond.

The entertainment/computer equipment looks older than mid-80's to me. I bought my first CD player around 1985. Hmmm ...

Just wanted to subscribe to the "official" season 2 thread.

The timeline confuses me, too. Desmond is in the hatch with all this equipment from the '80s, yet there's no way he's been IN the hatch since the '80s, since he met Jack on the stadium steps only a few years (in real time) earlier. So was his "round the world trek" somehow related to what's going on in the hatch? Was Desmond training for an extended period of time down in the hatch tending to something - an experiment of some type?

Daniell has been on the island for 16 years. So on Lost, it's currently 2004. So she has been there since 1989.

Jack's hospital band in the flashback said 1997 - so that's when he met Desmond. So the the wedding was in 1999.

Desmond must have some connection to the outside world. Did you see how high-tech everything was in the apartment.

That was my thought too. The side loading washer and dryer looked like the new models being sold at Sears. There was definitely old items like the record player and all the computer equipment looked pretty old. But there was hight ech stuff in there too. So someone has been bringing him supplies or he's going and getting it from somewhere...

I would have guessed by Jack's hair that the flashback of the surgery would have taken place in the 80's - only Billy Ray Cyrus had a mullet in the 90's

Yep - just more questions than answere - shouldn't have expected anything else. Did anyone catch on the preview for next week that the commentator said something to the effect that next week we would find out why they were all there. And so early in the season. I'll believe it when I see it.

I just want to take a stab at something... if they had all this high tech stuff down in the hatch why would they be using a Tandy computer from the late 80's very very ealry 90's?

Ok, I'm hooked. I fianlly watched last night. DH tried all last season to get me interested, but I wouldn't watch (he had to tape it, cuz I was at work).

I'm contimplating going out and buying season one tonight.

Anyone hear any rumors about more seasons? It'll be worth it to buy, if I have to keep reminding myself about the 1st season.

We were talking about the show here at work. Someone brought up that Hurley had gone to Australia regarding his numbers. He met the widow of the crazy guys partner. Does anyone remember how he died? Could he have been the guy that Sawyer shot?
