LOST - Season 2 (No spoilers)

If this is a no spoiler thread how can we discuss what is happening with the current series and how can we discuss theories cause if we mentioned what happened in the episode isnt that a spoiler if someone reads it but hasnt seent the episode....I'm lost

Well spoilers usually discuss specific things that are going to happen in future episodes, based on leaked information, scripts, etc.

We are just discussing past and current episodes and tossing around theories we think of after seeing the episodes.

"It [dharma] is, so to speak, the essential nature of a being, comprising the sum of its particular qualities or characteristics, and determining, by virtue of the tendencies or dispositions it implies, the manner in which this being will conduct itself, either in a general way or in relation to each particular circumstance. The same idea may be applied, not only to a single being, but also to an organized collectivity, to a species, to all the beings included in a cosmic cycle or state of existence, or even to the whole order of the Universe; it then, at one level or another, signifies conformity with the essential nature of beings…"

?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ??????????????

Wonder if this ties in with the "real" John Locke, the 17th or 18th century philosopher and his concept of the Tabula Rasa - Basically that everybody is a blank slate at birth and you learn through experience. Although this completely contridicts the John Locke on the TV show that relates everything to destiny.

ah okay thanks!

Ok, I can't for the life of me remember the flashbacks of Walt and Michael from last season, if there were any.

I noticed during one of the flashbacks last night that Michael was walking with a cane. Is it possible that he was still walking with the cane before the flight?

It has been bugging me ever since I saw it last night. Thanks!

I think the building under the hatch actually houses some type of doomsday device. For some reason the countdown has been activated thats what the countdown is and to abort the countdown those numbers must be put in to reset it.
Remember Desmond asking Locke if the world was still out there?

Last years episodes showed Michael going to pick-up Walt after Walt's mom (I forget her name) died, he wasn't using a cane.

:rotfl: The person who wrote that scene must have been a woman. The chocolate bar is the first thing I would've eaten, too.

Yeah, I would be drawn to the chocolate too, but all I could think of when she was eating it was, "Kate, you are going to get one heck of a stomach-ache!" :crazy2:

Thanks! I thought I might be on to something. :rotfl:

I have a slightly weird thought....
it circles around that riddle.... now if its true that Mike wrote it down in a card for walt that we saw in an episode last season (maybe some one who bought the DVD or has the season tivo'd could help out with that one)
What if... they actually wanted Mike not Walt but they were using Walt to get to Mike because they know that he would never let anything happen to his son... so they threaten him by using Walt....

does that make any sense??

If Walt and John were in the same Hospital at the same time for thier rehabilitating sessions? :confused3 And Walt was able to recover, but John didn't?

i just posted something about next week's episode in the other lost thread (the one with spoilers). it's about what the canadian preview of next week's episode showed (which was different than the us's). i figured people might not want to know (since this is a no spoilers thread and what i wrote could potentially be a spoiler), so i put it there. just to let you all know, incase you want to take a peek.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it - but in the flashback with Michael and Walt - did anyone else notice that he gave his son a white bear? I know there was lots of theories last season about where the polar bear they shot came from. Most revolved around the comic book that Walt had but here is another instance with a white bear...

Wow ... I don’t log on for a day and there are 10 PAGES ... it’s going to be hard to keep up with this thread.

To go way back ... RE: Jack’s (Mathew’s) Tattoo ... it is real, but the producers decided to not cover it up, but to use it. As I understand it, we will find out more about the ‘show’ version in the future. (This was from the special features of the season 1 DVD).

With the slash marks on the wall ... why would that make any sense? This isn’t a prison (well, or if it is it is a very strange prison) ... why not just use a calendar?

I don't think the hatch area is for monitoring (like seeing what they would do on the outside), because Desmond did not seem to know anything about what was going on outside. It's like he can look out the hatches and nothing else. I am totally into the doomsday thing ... I think it is something that will destroy the island. But I don't think Desmond knows why the island is there, or what it does, either. I think he has a very siimple (but very boring) task of entering the numbers every 108 minutes (as if being alone wasn't enough ... tlak about lack of deep sleep!).

Yeah it was definitely a stuffed polar bear

Why is Charlie so adamant about there being no others? If anyone should believe in the others I'd think it would be him- remember Ethan, Charlie? :confused3

I think he is just trying to reassure the rest of the survivors, especially Claire, and keep from mass panic.

Can you imagine actually having to type in those numbers every 108 minutes...that would be like pure torture. You could never leave, never get good sleep...

Someone asked about the Oceanic site..that seat 42 F was flashing....did anyone click on the F?

But does he type them in every 108 minutes? Maybe he only has to type them in when there is a security breach and he has 108 minutes to do it before (whatever happens).

Didn't Desmond start playing his record at the time he told Locke to type the numbers in?
