Lost mail help

So I ordered a book from Amazon and the tracking number given said it was expected to be delivered on January 3rd and that it went through the processing center about 30 min from my house. It is now January 9th and I still haven't received the book. Is it possible that it got lost in the mail?

Also this book was not cheap ($50) and I'm afraid that it did get lost in the mail, I'll lose my money. Anyone have any experience with this and Amazon?

Have you contacted Amazon? That happened to me, I called them, they shipped another book. Mine wasn't that expensive, but I wanted it.

Yes, I emailed the seller but haven't received a response.

When you checked the tracking record, did it show it was delivered? If it was UPS, they should have the date and time it was delivered.

No it didn't say it had been delivered. I just don't think it's possible for it to take over a week to get from the processing center in Jersey City to my house that is only 30 minutes away. That's why I'm a little worried it got lost.

I would contact Amazon.

Is it being shipped Media Mail? It is very possible it will take that long.

Since you have the tracking number I would just call UPS.

Is it UPS or the postal service? I have had terrible luck with the post office.

I realized on December 22 that I had never received a book I ordered from Amazon. It was shipped through the postal service and was last tracked at a facility in GA on Dec. 9, nothing after that. I called the customer service number and a very helpful gentleman apologized and shipped another copy out express UPS at no charge to me. It arrived the next day. The original copy was delivered on December 28. It must have been floating in limbo somewhere.

Anyway, I would just call customer service. They were very helpful.

Yeap. Sound like it may have been mis-delivered. I have had that happen several times with both USPS and UPS but mostly the USPS. I have had it show being delivered in another town before or tracking just stop for days then show up at my door. They always trace it and finally deliver but you need to go up there and see if they can help find it.

thanks everyone for your help! i called the Post Service customer service and they filled a research request for my local post office so hopefully I'll get an answer out of that. NYC is still recovering from the blizzard so I'm sure that slowed a lot of things down and I'm sure the layoffs haven't helped either. I'm hoping it comes today or tomorrow!

I had some video games take a LONG time. They seemed to be stuck in a processing facility. I contacted Amazon and they told me that some of their sellers use this "Smart FEDEX" service and it goes through that before the postal service or UPS takes charge of it. That's where my stuff got backlogged.

Interestingly enough, each time I've contacted Amazon about it directly, they have managed to shake it loose and I get it within 48 hours from my query.

This has only happened when I order through Amazon and they contract out with another seller. Not through Amazon Marketplace or anything being shipped directly from amazon.
