Hello everyone and I hope you are keeping healthy and safe.
Due to the border being closed I was wondering if any Canadian DVC members out there that have been able to get their banked points back?
I had banked and borrowed points to be able to take 24 family members to Disney this past May. First contract of points I had accepted the loss because border was not closed yet when I canceled. Now that it's closed wondering if any success with getting points back for use next year? I realize the complications this will bring for Disney when there are too many points out there for booking but I would be willing to push for another year.

Thank you.

No. Borrowed points are being returned to their UY. Unfortunately that’s the risk of using banked points. Put them into RCI. It’s your best bet to at least get some value.

I did RCI with my first contract. I was just hoping for a little pixie dust with the border being closed.

Unfortunately no. The confirmed reservation lists with the big brokers contain thousands of reservations overall, but you could try renting them here on the Dis at just enough to cover the MF, 7ish a point. You might find a taker.

The other social media site with groups rentals seem to. be going higher than $7. I guess its not a big deal for locals, near locals or ppl who feel its not a legit pandemic

Sure but there’s a reason there are so many listings - if you just want to offload & recoup MF, list lower than the 9$ pp which is typical for distressed points right now.

I keep waiting for them to do something to help us. We never had a chance to use our 2019 points as we only bought in September and then had it cancelled in March, May, June, August and now have November and January booked, hoping.... RCI doesn't even work because we don't have points divisible by 10, so either we have to lose 5 points or put 5 points extra in. I messaged them and so far they say we are out of luck. I really hope November or January can work before points expire at the end of January. For soooooome strange reason I don't trust the States to actually get a handle on things by January.

I think about this post often and just wanted to respond.~~~Hugs~~~
I am so sorry you and many of us are in this situation,,I know that doesn't help much but you are not alone in this situation either.
I truly wish there were some options for Canadian and foreign DVC owners right now.
I guess I'm not much of a risk taker and have decided to downsize my interests in DVC,,at least for the next 3-4 yrs.
In March I refunded a renter and also lost my 30% from David's DVC rental. (It felt like the right thing to do at the time),,although the resort was open 6 of their 7 days booked. I lost 50 points that could not be banked.
I have another rental coming up in Oct,,now this time I am willing to forgo the 30% but I am not willing to refund the 70%. Hopefully David's DVC rental is able to re rent them to someone local who wants to go as the current renter has now changed their mind. (I did refuse to sign a new contract but agreed to change the name on the reservation).
This was my first year renting points as I had medical issues that needed to be taken care of. Now with downsizing I plan never to rent again.
I hope you are able to salvage something from your situation and am glad that you are safe and healthy.
Best wishes
Mel
