I THINK this is my last post for today. ;)

Looking for what some have used for Child/Parent Identifications. For the just in case scenario that your child gets separated from you.

We have a 7 year old boy.

I had an inexpensive Dog Tag made with our names and cell phone number and attached it to my kids shoes. It worked great - and I have it ready for your next trip!

I bought a silicone bracelet with my phone number on it from shanrene.com

I ordered bracelets from mypreciouskid.com. The ones I bought were like ones you might get at an amusement park and can be cut/ripped off. They were waterproof too. I think the package came with 10 of them and a marker. Can't remember the cost though.

I did the dog tag too. They had one at petsmart shaped like a crown. It had her first name only and our phone numbers (ie Mom xxx-xxx-xxxx or Dad xxx-xxxx-xxxx) We put it around her last shoelase so it could not come off. It was her special pincess (she was 3.5 at the time) tag and if she could not find us she was told to find a grown up with a name badge and show her the shoe.

For best child identification, every morning, before you leave your resort, take a full length picture of your child (include both head and feet). If your child becomes lost, this picture will be helpful in providing a description to Disney cast members.

In the stress of losing your child, you may forget some description details. The picture will ensure you forget nothing.

That is an awesome idea!

We made these from shrinky dink paper. Just stamped on an image and wrote our information on a 2/12" by 3 1/2" piece of shrinky dink paper. Punched a hole in them using a standard hole punch and cooked at 200 for 10 min. Put a jewelry jump ring in them, coated them with 4 layers of clear nail polish to make them water and scratch resistent. Super fast and cost under a buck for 4 of them.

I've heard of parents writing contact info on their child with a sharpie. :) I like the dog tag idea. You can make one at Walmart in the machine there!

we use Who's Shoes ID for the 3 year old and a wrist band for the 7 year old. He picked out the Army Camo design. Inside is a small water proof, rip proof paper that slides into a pocket. The wrist band is velcro so it fits snug.

That is actually the best idea I have ever heard. My son (5 at the time) got away from me on Main Street (turns out he was with my aunt and uncle - I didn't know that though) and when the CM asked me to descibe him... I realize that I could have been descibing any kid there!... too bad there isn't a phone number to send it to (if the CM carried cell phones) so that immediately everyone could see which kid was missing and from where... great idea though!

I went into my local Walmart and used the Tag Engraving machine to make a tag for DD. For her I bought a heart shaped tag and had it engraved with her name and Mom xxx-xxx-xxxx (which is my cell phone number). I use a safety pin to pin it right on the front of her shirt.

We bought luggage tags (Diego) at the dollar store and wrote their first names, our reservation number and our cell phone numbers on them. We hooked the tag to the belt loops on their shorts each morning. They actually enjoyed wearing them and we had many people comment on them while we were there.

I also used the belt loops and luggage tags. I always have something with belt loops on and I made sure that DD7 does too.

We went at Easter and she was actually okay with what to do in case she got lost, but I knew she would panic in the huge exit crowds in parks filled to capacity, and in the dark. I went and bought a cheap set of toddler reins ...no, no, let me finish :lmao:

They are the ones that go round mom's wrist and velcro around the "toddler" wrist. I just used them differently and after fireworks, before we moved I shortened the strap and attached it to each of our beltloops. Then took her hand as usual. It gave her that extra security and nobody would notice it in the crowds. As we neared the bus I detached her side and tied it round my waist as a belt.

They are a decent price for what you get and work great.

We used Safety Tats, like AmyB, for our latest January trip. Unfortunately they came off very easy for us and were a dissapointment.

However, we saw another family on our resort bus that used the travel time to the park as a "getting lost" debrief. They had two kids about 9 and 7. The parents made the kids repeat their resort name to them, gave them each a map of the park with a spot circled that they had designated their meet-up spot if they got seperated. The parents had also written their cell phone number on the map. Each kid had a small backpack to keep their maps and any sundry items in.

Then they made the kids recite what to do if they got lost.

1) Find someone with a name tag.
2) Tell them I'm lost
3) Show them the map with your cell phone number
4) Have someone escort me to our meeting spot

I was impressed by their organization and thought this might work well for older kids.

We do the sharpie thing. We go in December so the kids are usually wearing long sleeves so if they get lost they find a CM, pull up their sleeve and that's it. They're 7 and 11 so capable of memorizing the number, but I wouldn't count on it if they were in a panic.

It wore down every other day or so and I would refresh it at the resort. Works great and most moms have sharpies anyway.
