We've lost lots of things in the parks over the years.....nothing too expensive. Mostly hats, water bottles, sunglasses, and shirts. I always head to Guest Relations and ask them to check, but I've never had any luck....until this week!

My daughter left her hat on Spaceship Earth and when I checked at Guest Relations a few hours later, it was there! :thumbsup2

The following day, my daughter left the same hat on the bench by Sum of All Thrills. This time it never turned up at Guest Relations.

I'm curious to know who has had success finding lost items in the park?

About 5 years ago I lost a jacket on ToT and by lost I mean it got sucked out of the car. The CMs at the ride told me it happened all the time and they take a box of all the items to guest services each night at closing. We swung by the next morning and they had my jacket with a ToT tag on it.

We were walking back to our rental car at CR when DW discovered the keys were missing. We walked back to MK and the keys had been turned in. Whew, that could have been an expensive nightmare. DW lost a hoodie last trip that wasn't recovered, but that's not such a bad loss.

My dd lost an Anna wand and plush Olaf outside the fish and chip shop in United Kingdom in Epcot last week (she left them on a chair after eating) we enquired at guest relations and they weren't there. When we returned to our hotel I asked at the front desk if they could call for me and see if they had been handed in later - they hadn't but they said no problem, they had replacements sent to our room. Very nice gesture which made dd very happy !!

That's so nice! :thumbsup2

I'm going to call the front desk and tell them I left a couple of margaritas outside La Cava de Tequila. maybe they'll send me some replacements. :rotfl:

That's a terrific story, but it also indicates to me that the markup must be somewhere around 500 percent for them to replace the merch. Still, I'm glad they did.

Great that you got your jacket back the next day. :thumbsup2

I know that eventually the items go to the Lost and Found at the Ticket and Transfer centre. I wonder how long they keep items? :confused3

Whoa. Missing keys, I.D. and lost credit cards freak me out.
Lucky you got your keys back.

My sister was CM in 2005. At that time, I was allowed to go with her to Property Control. In addition to slightly defective merchandise, they sold lost and found items. It was crazy. There were bins of hats, sunglasses, shirts, jackets, and more. They also had some expensive items in a case. I was always amazed at how many strollers there were.

Sadly in 2010, my daughter left her stuffed puppy at SSR. This was a special stuffed animal that she had had since she was a baby and she slept with it every night. We realized that she had left it when we got home. I called everyday for a couple of weeks but it was never found. This particular puppy was no longer available to purchase from Toys R Us but I found one on eBay. I washed it lots of times trying to give it the same "well-loved" look but when I gave it to my daughter- she knew it wasn't her puppy.

I was very impressed with the hotel replacing the items but saddened that whoever found the originals decided to keep them rather than hand them in (we went back to the fish and chip shop and guest relations) - I would never dream of keeping items that obviously belonged to a child.

I thought about telling them I'd lost one of those crystal castle models they sell - the ones that cost $1000's lol

In March, my son left his Goofy hat at the RainForest Cafe at the Animal Kingdom. We called the restaurant the next day and they told us to call the main lost and found located at the TTC. My wife called them and was told that they had the hat and that we could pick it up at the main lost and found. :)

Not Disney, but my DD lost her cell phone on Transformers at Universal a couple of years ago. We told them at the ride, and at guest services. It did turn up at the ride podium, where we recovered it.

I've had great luck with the main lost & found at the TTC. 3 years ago my wife lost her camera lens cap on the Nemo ride in Epcot ( it fell & slid out of our clamshell). They had it the next day. 2 years ago my hat blew off my head on BTM on our 1st day of our vacation. I loved that hat. I figured I would never see that hat again. I checked at the TTC lost & found every day of our vacation & was thrilled when they called my cell on the very last day of our trip & my hat had finally showed up.

I lost my first ever item at MK in January.....a really nice water bottle (Hydroflask) that my mother had bought me for the trip....I was so sad! Up to that point it had been my lifeline to keeping drinks cold. It was during a parade...I realized it almost immediately and notified the CM standing a few steps away from me. They helped me look, but it was nowhere to be found. I asked where the lost and found was located and the CM who was helping me (and another one nearby) both stated the same thing....any items that have gone in or could have touched someone's mouth (ex: water bottle, pacifier, etc.) do NOT get turned in to lost and found! They are thrown out immediately! The reason they said is because anyone could claim it was theirs/their child's and could spread germs/pathogens too easily. The CM tried to cheer me up saying too bad it wasn't sunglasses or keys or clothing b/c then that would be something that would be turned in almost immediately. Since that day, I have 'tethered' my water bottles to my backpack using a Disney lanyard....no more lost items!

we left a camera on a bus and reported it, however no go! Then a month later we got a package for WDW, camera enclosed!

Well done WDW.

AKK

If I ever got lost inside a park at WDW, I'd hope they NEVER find me.

Seriously, though - we've had some pretty good luck with L&F in the past. Unfortunately there have also been times when we've lost something (usually a camera or left-on-a-ride stuffed toy) and never saw it again. I don't blame Disney for that because I'm sure someone adopted our lost item and made it their own.

If your item is turned in, it is at Guest Relations/Security until the end of the day it was discovered.

If the item then goes unclaimed, it is sent to the Lost & Found at the Ticket and Transportation Center.

My wife was able to recover her cellphone that had slipped out of her handbag on Soarin'.

I will say this, had she not spoken with someone at Guest Relations/Security who confirmed her missing cellphone was there, she never would have recovered it after another Cast Member told her the cellphone was not at Lost & Found. In other words, if you have one failed attempt at Lost & Found, try again.

Lost a green squeeze camel back water bottle on ToT two weeks ago....I think my wife flung it out the doors in fear! They searched four cars and we never found it...probably landed on some poor persons head walking on street below!

Ouch! :tilt:

I left my cheap sunglasses in the pouch on Seven Dwarves Mine Train on Monday. By the time I realized I didn't have them we were at the Jungle Cruise and getting ready to head back to our resort so I didn't bother checking at the ride and the line at city hall was too long for me to wait in. I checked at the lost and found at the TTC on Tuesday and they had them! I did notice CMs checking ride cars with flashlights as we were exiting other rides this week. On Wednesday my husband lost our underwater camera at Typhoon Lagoon- we think it fell out of his pocket in the lazy river. He reported it at Typhoon Lagoon before we left and called Lost and Found the next day. He was then told to call Typhoon Lagoon and they told him they had no record of it. On Friday he walked over the Lost and Found (we stayed at the Poly) and they had the camera there with his name on it. It had been tagged at Typhoon Lagoon but apparently they had no record. So, like others have said, keep trying if you lose something!
